Amy Winehouse
It's never nice when somebody f--ks up their life and dies young, no matter how talented (or not) and no matter how much they may have gone into it with their eyes open. It's still never nice.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

drugs dealers are not happy now
and James, don't be silly - that's obvious that tragedy in Norway is much more "important", shocking and devastating than this.

a trainwreck vs. a bunch of innocent folks cut down?

No, just different. That's not to belittle the Norway tragedy but mocking or belittling anyone's death, whatever you thought of them, is pretty pathetic and immature.Bartek wrote:and James, don't be silly - that's obvious that tragedy in Norway is much more "important", shocking and devastating than this.

I always felt bad for her.

As i dais before - she chose her way. I know few people who are addicted, two of the wanted to get away from that and they did. Rest are denying the issue. If they gonna die because of this it's gonna be only their fault. And don;t start with: none helped her.
TBH I never liked her. She was a worthless dead ender who had a glimmer of something I could never fathom.
Her page space in the tabloids was testament to her worth on this planet.
Let's hope she gets it right the next time round.
I'm not buying a keyring BTW

Always sad for the family but it is not a shock at the end of the day. Life goes on and maybe someone out there seeing the way she died may think twice about their own life choices.

And to think, I got a thread dedicated to what a swine I was when I said I was glad a terrorist sympathiser and coward like Ted Kennedy died..not like she did anything bad to anyone else, only person she harmed was herself.
It's hard to have sympathy for someone who killed herself and did it with her eyes wide open and enjoyed herself doing so. Still think it sad that anyone dies at 27. And she did have a good voice, even if her music wasn't my cup of tea.
Out of curiosity, what would be the reaction of some of you who seem to find this humorous if after decades of pumping his body full of amphetamines Eldritch snuffed it with a dodgy heart or similar?

I think Mick Mercer has said it right :
RIP Amy Winehouse. You had a great voice but were not as talented as kind people are saying, yet in a bland era you were interesting. The tragedy of your 27 brief years, and why you deserve our sympathy, is that you clearly had no real friends. For a life to become such a cruel fiasco means no-one cared enough. Imagine living like that?

@DeWinter - Was thinking exactly the same thing.
I think some of the interest is also because a lot of people have either looked down that path or know someone else that has and thanks god they could get off it.
I've never had a call telling me someone has been massacred in a shooting by a nut job but I have had the call that someone has finally gone to far with drugs and drink. It doesn't make you any less furious or frustrated with them but it is still sad.

Om began to feel the acute depression that steals over every realist in the presence of an optimist.

In all soul searching honesty, probably slightly relieved to know it was final over.
I don't think the man's done too bad out of this rock 'n' roll malarkey.

it does seem rather hypocritical, doesn't it?DeWinter wrote:Out of curiosity, what would be the reaction of some of you who seem to find this humorous if after decades of pumping his body full of amphetamines Eldritch snuffed it with a dodgy heart or similar?
i am surprised and disappointed by the degree of hostility shown towards her on here, and the venom aimed at any heartlanders who have shown any amount of compassion/humanity by expressing their sadness for how she ended up.
some of you disappoint me.
