Best Gigs!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Inspired by Zeno's "worst gigs" thread...

My best are ;

Pogues - Manchester - 2006 (every year was great though)
Sisters - Leeds - 2003 (pure modern day Sisters for me)
Marilyn Manson - Leeds 1997 (was in total awe)
Fear Factory - Donington - 1996 (absolutely rocked)
Electric Six - Leeds - 2008 (I love em!)

Please continue...

not in particular order:
Grinderman, Wroclaw, week ago - lot more better than i was expecting and my expectations were high after some friend's reviews. Clean, perfect sound. Warren Ellis.
David Byrne, Warsaw, 2009 - great show.
Wire, Athens, March 2011- started as one-of-many gigs and rapidly turned into very good gig. Plus, few words with Graham Lewis and great company.
Sisters, Krakow, 2006 - my first sissies gig, exact. day of my 20th jubilee of my first scream. Great atmosphere, nice sound.
Electric Six, Dresden, 2009 - i was waiting to see them like 5 years. Nice chat with Dick Valentine and Tait Nucleus, signed CD. Very good show even that vocalist can't sing.
Savage Republic, Wroclaw, 2008 and 2009 - pure energy and good ambiance.
Swans, Wroclaw, 2010 - savage, raw, mesmerizing show. Loudest gig I've ever been.

Nephilim, Leeds university, 1990 stands out as one of the best I was ever at.

Was there! :D Twas very good indeed. Though always thought it was at the Poly, but memory is rubbish so will take your word for it. The Icicle Works were damn fine there also. :D And the gals last Feb of course! ;D
On second thoughts it might've been 88/89 at the Poly. Very dodgy memory! ;D

Pathetic or not, it's one of those things that you just have to do, isn't it? :notworthy:
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

The Cramps on the same tour but in Hamburg :D
I was 12 then so sometimes I wonder if maybe I was just easily impressed at that time. But I gotta say, the pictures and videos look like I just remember it right. That mean bass player with her chewing gum and the bunny panties, and Lux and Ivy in all their glory :D :notworthy:

Madonna's Confessions tour in 2006, especially the opening with the horse projections and the sound... intense
2009 at the Sticky + Sweet tour 2nd leg I made it to the 1st row and it was extremely fun cause she's such a stage harlot. And her manager took a picture of my friend and me and twittered it. Fan heaven  But music wise I prefer the Confessions tour.

And of course, Iggy and the Stooges last year in London. Raw f**king power :D

Einstürzende Neubauten earlier this year, their 30 years 2-nighter, the second night. They played all their big hits on night 1, and on night 2, we weren't even sure if it was going to be a real gig or just some wacky art installment. It was in the same venue, but the barriers in front of the stage had been removed, and only half as much people showed up. I had won tickets on the radio so I invited my friend who was broke. And then they went on stage and played just a regular gig, but much more intimate than the previous night and with all the obscure stuff like Seele Brennt. A young guy in a suit came on stage and was so nervous that he was shaking. Blixa said the boy was a special guest tonight, he had heard about the band's connection to Armenia and brought his flute and asked if he could join in. So they played Armenia with this extremely sad instrument - I don't know what it is called but it sounds like a Clarinet and you hear it in Armenian traditional music. I still get goosebumps when I think about that concert.

Forgot a couple...

Julian Cope on his Jehovakill Tour in '92. Absolute Genius and rocked hard.

also... prize for the heaviest bass ever... soundcheck of LEFTFIELD at Bristol Anson Rooms around the same time. Only a few of us in the venue at the time. Bass was so extreme we all lifted off the floor by a few cms at each pulse. Looked around at each other, smiled and said "yeahhhhhh".
