Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

My totally random top 5 (if you ask tomorrow I'll think of something else):
- The Musical Box, Koninklijk Circus, 2007: Not only is it terrible for your street cred to say a Genesis cover band is the best thing you've ever seen, it was bloody well amazing too :notworthy:
- Grace Jones, AB, 2009: Wow. (as referenced in the other thread)
- Prince, Sportpaleis, 2010: Definitely one of the greatest performers there is.
- Fleetwood Mac, Sportpaleis, 2009: The acoustic solo guitar by Lindsey Buckingham on Big love still boggles my mind
- Health, Pukkelpop, 2009: I entered not knowing a thing about them, exited resonating from the gig's energy.

CYNIC, AB Brussels 2008 - stunning gig, had tears in my eyes when I left.

SHINJUKU THIEF - CC Luchtbal Antwerp 2006 - never heard of the man, totally blew me away with his filmic ambient/ritualistic power-electro stuff. Such a quality!

OBITUARY - Zaal Pede, 1991. My first metal gig/festival ever and man was I impressed!

The Specials - Manchester Apollo 2009

Been waiting for the specials to reform since 1981. Mental gig, the whole venue was bouncing well worth the wait.

Half Man Half Biscuit - Liverpool, Planet X 1990

Another band I had wanted to see for years, small oversold venue with sweat pouring off the ceiling...aww memories. now seen them 50 times. still a great live band.

March Violets - Leeds 2007

Another band I've wanted to see for years. Great day with some great people and bands. Norwich was the next best Violets gig i've seen.

Sisters - Leeds, The Well 2005

Having been tipped off about this secret gig about 3 weeks beforehand, I booked the day off leave and Heather booked sick, Got to the well at 11am bumped into Johnny Boy / Planet Dave and stayed there all day. Myself, Heather and Scardy stayed for the Soundcheck, met Chris for the 1st time then sweated like a bastard for the whole gig. Great day.

The Fall - Stoke Sugarmill 2005.

Knowing I was going to record this gig I decided to film it as well. Arrived in time to claim the raised bit to the left of the stage but was not ready for what was to follow. Band took to the stage without MES and played the 1st song as an instrumental, still no MES as the 2nd song started, got half was through and MES decided to grace us with is presence. MES was totally pissed off and decided to take it out on the band. The drummer ended up with just his bass drum as MES decided to dismatle his kit, and how the cymbal never hit his head I will never know as MES decided to throw it to the back of the stage like a frisby. MES went off after 5 songs and the rest of the songs were played as instrumentals. Spoke to the guitarist (Ben) afterwards and asked him if he would like a copy of the DVD he said "I think this is one gig I would like to forget"...lol.

Hee hee, I saw them at the Octagon in Sheffield (god knows when) and I feared for my life! The bass was shaking my inner core so much I thought my heart was going to stop.

One of my bestistist gigs would be Joe Strummer (and possibly his Mescawhatsits but it might have been the Cut the Crap tour but who knows) at Hull's Clock Tower in (oh dear here we go again) possibly 1986/7. He played with such passion (as per usual) lost his voice in parts but the whole experience was just incredible.

As you can tell, I'm not very good at the finer points of recall :lol:

now that I have a couple of days to think about good gigs I've been to,a few more have come to mind..namely:

The The @ Glasgow Barrowlands 1993-Johnny Marr had left them by this point but he came on stage for a few songs as special guest!

Iggy Pop @ Glasgow Barrowlands late 90's-he came on stage to Lust for life and promptly stage dived into the crowd--I had a back stage pass but I did not want to go backstage after the gig and see him in his slippers and a cup of tea and ruin the vision of this bloke who had run about stage for the past 90 mins!!!!

Rollins Band @ Newcastle Uni 94--part of the Weight tour,the stage was about the size of my front room, Henry Rollins was looking scary so close up,even got soaked,from every time he shook his head, with sweat (ugh!)

Foetus @ Glasgow Garage-just brilliant!!

Diamanda Galas @ Glasgow CCA--strange evening!!

Queen Adreena @ Newcastle some where 2002--can't remember much,only a good time was had by all!!

Soft Cell @ London Ocean 2001--opening night of new venue and the first gig by Soft Cell in 17 years

Nick Cave @ Edinburgh Queens Hall 1999--Dead Joe getting the grand piano treatment!!

PIL last nacht. I was a bit afraid that i might be some touring retirement found, but it's a proper band. Serious emotions, commitment. It's not fake. There's no flogging. And even without any new song(s) it's still good show. Great rhythm section. Great showman/guitars. And Johnny. :notworthy:
There are few bands ( :von: ) that ought to go, see this and learn.

... but my favourite ever moment in a gig was in 1996 when New model Army were playing.
Beeing early there, at the time the band soundchecked
the doors were wide open though they wouldn't let you in, but i could hear them crystal cleart. At the soundchenck they played No greater love and gimme shelter none of which were played at the gig.
A bit later Justin walked out and we had a nice little chat, what a person..

- March Violets and 3 Johns (Leeds uni, 1983 -The Alarm were also on the bill for the princely sum of £2)
- Sisters (Gent Vooruit, 85 first gig without Marx IIRC - the atmosphere was electric - fantastic venue too. Brixton Academy 1990 - either night - and Sheffield Uni 1983 would also be in my top ten)
Godfathers (Leeds Uni 1986 - only went because I was reviewing it. Only about thirty people there but they were amazing)
- Iggy (Birmingham Hummingbird, 1988 - finally seeing Iggy on Raw Power form although Torhout 1986 was pretty good)
- Young Gods (Manchester Uni MDH 1995 - Live Sky Tour - nuff said)

Faithless @ Rock City in, oh heck here we go again, erm 1999

A truly amazing gig. Band were fantastic, they took you up, when you thought they were going to bring you back down they just took you even higher. NEVER felt anything like that, everyone was just up for it. No matter where you were in the crowd, it was just wall to wall jumping.

My all time favourite gig (and I've been to some stunning/amazing ones.) Will I be changing my mind (as is my wont) nah

Peter Gabriel, Hyde Park '07 - beyond any words that cannot be used to denote that something was KILLER

The Prodigy, Brixton '08 - s**t venue and full of 2000 idiots crushing me at the front row but manic and good at the same time

Napalm Death, Underworld '08 - a good laugh

Katatonia, Bloodstock '09 - great immersive experience, first time seeing them so was mega excited, sparked up a zoot halfway through the set, good times

Orbital at Glastonbury 1994 - Drugs, drink, lasers, everyone in the whole field dancing, a fantastic vibe, still gives me shivers thinking about it.

Leonard Cohen at Rexall Place, Edmonton 2010 - For a room that held a few hundred people (probably more) it felt really intimate, a gentleman and such a professional performance. Everyone should go see him.

Well seeing as how a band's setlist for a concert doesn't really feature anything in the way of a defineable sexuality, I don't think it'll be too upset.
