Coz he sells 'The Don't Belong';
Coz like no-one else he understands WTF "The Floodland" actually is;
Coz he's a Goth without actually acknowledging it;
Coz he survived the Thatcher era with a conscience;
Coz he needs to know about Danny Casolaro and Robert Booth Nichols;
Coz he was photographed in Detroit in '85 & that city's problems are far worse now than in '85....
... got a song for me?
Why is Andrew Eldritch the most intruiging person in rock?

Because, unlike virtually every lead singer of a successful rock band, he's (a) very smart; (b) not interested in being a star; (c) unafraid to tell idiots that they're idiots.

Because while he says everything people refuse to, he is still one of the biggest mysterys of the world
A man with a fictitious grin pondered the terrain in which he flooded with anguish, for this is England. The lion cannot be tamed, this is the game.

Keep Music Evil
- made some genius multi-layer in meaning good lyrics
- introduced the shades to be used not only at daylight but at night as well
- put away any kind of guilt to wear Hawaian cheerful Shirts instead of those black golf gears
- talked among the firsts about the genious of those manga comix
- used computers and tech gadgets to the point that never use a drummer on a live stage from 1981
- never lost the rythm on stage (see the reason above)
- had the brilliant idea of using the dry-ice clouds in concerts to hide the fact that he smoked all the time
and some more

As much as I love Uncle Von,the"most intriguing man in rock" he is not.

Riconosciuto loved an audience;
Robert got a role in Steven Seagel's film "Under Siege";
... and he loved showing s**t on his TV to people on his Sherman Oaks pad;

Because he's read T S Eliot, which he liberally paraphrases from.
For example - T S Eliot (Love songs of Alfred Prufrock)
In the room the women
come and go. Talking of Michelangelo.
Eldridtch (Amphetamine Logic)
And the women come and go
talk - talking about me like they know
Both lines scan in a similar way - this occurs a few times in sisters songs. It's a bit like Maslow making a repeat appearance in Manic Street Preacher's songs.
As such, I'd say the most intriguing man in not Eldritch, but Leonard Coen. Eldritch is the apprentice - with noisier guitars.

has invested a huge portion of his life in trying to create the "man of mystery" image so it's no surprise that to fans and fellow artists alike he comes across as "intriguing". The deliberate lack of information about him and the band from a very early stage, the lyrical obfuscation, the flit to Hamburg, the hire and fire policy of bandmates, the witty one-liners, the literary references and carefully revealed snippets of information about his life pre-Sisters, the (near) total control exercised over the Sisters' output ... none of this has been by accident.
