That was odd - suddenly stopped working and wouldn't let me start the MySQL database service no matter what I tried.
Tried a few different things to try and fix the MySQL service but nothing seemed to work. In the end it had gotten into such a state that the easiest thing was to wipe the whole server and set it up from scratch
I've restored the wiki a backup from Thursday (12th Dec). That shouldn't be too much of an issue because it went down on Friday (13th Dec), so there is unlikely to be much data lost...
At least it's up now anyway
I still need to setup the backup scripts etc but the basic wiki should be up and running now, so you should be able to do what you need on there
Let me know if you spot any quirks.

hmmm, give it half an hour or so… its taking a while to update the permissions on the whole images folder - it's quite large…
maybe try again tomorrow morning?

- permissions have been updated on the image folders so you should be able to add new images, as well as remove and edit existing images
- wiki backups have now been scheduled for 3.10am (database) and 3.40am (files) every day, so there will always be a rolling 7-day set of backups
- additionally, every monday at 4.45am copies of that day's wiki database and file backups are copied across to the heartland server (for extra backup)
fyi, heartland has a similar system of 7-day rolling backups

It's funny that this happened for the second time, already. I wonder why ... ...
Anyway, thank you ... ... everything works fine again by now... ... ...
And with the daily back-ups hardly anything can get lost completely ... ... However, I hope those daily back-ups don't eat too much disc space ...

I've just noted that there's still something wrong with uploading pictures ...
this one appears in the wrong direction, even though it was not like that on my computer, but - I guess - probably photographed that way ...

Apart from that, this error appears regulary:

Help? Maybe here or here or here...

think i've resolved the thumbnail issue - the temp folder (in which the server copied images while it resized them) hadn't been set, and was resorting to the default server temp folder, which it did not have permissions to save images into.
want to try uploading again?
regarding the rotated image, i don't really see how that could have happened. the code hasn't changed since the last week, and if it wasn't doing it then it wont be doing it now. it sounds like a daft question but has you double checked your original image?

Hi ... the thumbnails look good ... ...
As to image rotation - no, of course I've doublechecked the file ... and there are other pictures MediaWiki wants to upload rotated in another direction
than they appear on my computer ... it's got something to do with images' "metadata" ... ... here might be a hint towards a solution ...

I've sent QB a text message.
He did let me know how to get into the servers but I've lost the login credentials

I didn't mean the login to the wiki, but login to the server running the software. They are different (for security reasons)
But thanks.
