Fantasy Football - World Cup Brazil 2014

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

What's the point?

Dunno. But if Oscar scores more than Müller then you're points up. If Messi then scores more than Oscar, you're even more points up.

I think that's how it works, but I'm new to this game.

no, i understand that much, i just thought by changing the band between matches you got double points for whoever was your captain at the time they played and got to keep them. nevermind.

relying heavily on the germans last night paid off with 38 of this rounds 43 pts coming from there. lets hope having 3 argentinians playing tonight is as successful. i see what johnny means about us all ending up with the same/similar team at the end. :?

Ach so! Sorry Lee, I totally misunderstood your post. The 'stick or twist' gamble has always been an element of these FIFA/UEFA games. But yeh, wouldn't that be nice. :)

It's always the same with these tournie comps. You hope you get a stroke of luck (i.e., Hummels (c) 42pts as he was the only squad member playing last night), otherwise it's very difficult to make up ground.

There are a few strategies for the SFs/Final that could still work and I'll mention them tomorrow when I know the draw. But we're getting into serious shit or bust territory. Otherwise known as the 'All In'.

3 x ARG, 2 x BEL and 3 x NED (assuming they all start) for me tonight. Need to ponder the Neymar (c) 22pts to Messi though.

3 xARG, 1 x BEL AND 2 x NED for me; however...just checked the starting line-ups (according to google) and two of my ARG are on the bench.
also, one of them (fernandez) is down as a midfielder, yet when i transfered him for this round he was listed on mcfifa as a defender -which is where i've placed him. any hints as to how this affects points allocation (assuming he gets a game.) :?:

Different FF games list border-line players in different positions. Is he a def or a mid? Is he a mid or a striker?

Fernandez is listed as a def in McFIFA so will score as a def, irrespective of where he actually plays on the park.

It'd be very cool if (in future versions) it was possible to shuffle the formation around at will.
It's not unheard of to play people out of position (in reality).
Arsenal do it with Walcott all the time

Spot on Steve. Theo is usually listed as a mid in FPL, whereas in reality he plays as a striker.

In Nigelese, it's known as an OOP. (Out Of Position - in a postive sense.)

Whereas a mid who is listed as a def is known as a POO (for obvious reasons.)

I'll see you in the HL FPL league next season.

My hunch re goalies paid off again with CRC shot stopper racking up an impressive fifteen points last night. If only I'd put my money where my mouth was and made him captain instead of Messi . . .

My Nigel-sense was tingling last night so stuck with Neymar, as opposed to switching the alice band to Messi. Didn't have anyone worthy of the (c) in the last game but switched to a 5-4-1 with a treble Dutch defence. Which was nice when the CSs came in.

Currently #1050 Overall (a top 1k finish would be nice) and #10 in Germany. Flying the HL flag loud and proud. :von:

Scores on the doors of the Top Five in the HL mini-league:

1. 586 - Johnny Rev 7.0
2. 501 - Mav787
3. 479 - iesus
4. 454 - Paint it Black
= 454 - Nikolas Vitus Lagartija

Whoa!

You've spent (7 + 3 + 1) 11m on GKs for the SFs?

I'll stick with the (3 + 1 + 1) 5m spend I've had since day 1.

That's 6m I can spend elsewhere, but good luck anyway! :D
