Now that the origins of the Damage Done sleeve image have been resolved and partly inspired by the excellent blog documenting the early 80's gigs I've been turning my thoughts to the Sisters recording studios and the producers.

I'd already made a trip (with a fellow Heartlander) to the former site of Martin Rushent Genetic's studio, now a massive house, and one day will get around to writing that up as the demise and sales of that studio is interesting in its own right.

But I've always been fascinated be Ken Giles, his studio and the undoubtedly pivotal role he played in the early recordings.

I can't even recall how I stumbled across this - but none other than Ken Giles was a recording artist back in 1970 with a band called Red Dirt, who have achieved a certain cult following with original copies of their debut changing hands for significant sums!

So I've still not managed to track down any details of where in Bridlington they recorded - but was fascinated by Red Dirt, their story and also that of Ken Giles.

yes, granted...

albeit as the detail from the Damage Done sleeve had been annoying me for over 30 years to get some information at last is a huge step forward.

Not considered this before - but maybe Marx was the driver behind the sleeve design, and the Eldritch consistency kicked in with Body Electric.

I suspect we'll never know, though it would be nice to know the location of the church one day.

I thought that the full photo https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hp ... e=568E90B1 had ruled Guildford out. I remember that St Mary's Oxted had some support because of aspects of this image http://www.francisfrith.com/oxted/oxted ... 1906_54255 which has a mirror image of many aspects (including a gate post) but crucially no cross !

"With no doubt" is too much, i agree. From when is the foto? 1865 the stonework was redone quite extensively i understand, also the other side has still a cross at the roof, higher but similar to the one on the cover. Lets ask the church then.
