Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.
Just wondering what others here are planning for Halloween, if anything....
it's Mid-term break here the week before so we go away for a few days and get back in time for a party at home. Our house is the preferred location being located next to an old creepy looking graveyard. If it's mild enough. and not lashing rain, we might do a late night barbecue for the kids in particular, they don't seem to mind the chill so much as the adults.
Then we watch the fireworks from the village and hope none lands on the roof like a few years back
I always get stiffed to do the Halloween parties as well. At least I don't have to bother dressing up though
No fireworks here this time. I have a very nervous foster dog here who has been severely abused and it will be some time before he will be ready for his forever home.
Halloween is a beloved holiday in San Francisco. Back in the good old days, an entire neighborhood was closed to traffic and became a giant street party. The costumes were fabulous.
My life is one long week of stupid clothing benders.

Our cats don't like the fireworks either, so we keep them indoors. The fireworks are a community activity so they'll happen anyway in the village. The thing is that some people start practicing with them early. I heard some last night in fact. Not sure how the cattle in the next field deal with it all.
i am planning a drug and drink drenched day of loud music, fast food and internet pool for halloween, or as we call it here in whizzworld "every sunday".
would love to have something more fun to do preferably involving copius amounts of sex...but thats still "every sunday".

Planning to do nothing special that day, while it's not my (country) tradition, even that since last 3 or 4 years some people tried to convince/sell it in PL. Not to mention that if i chose not to believe in ein Gott then why i should play a game where pretend i believe in few others, plus after~life. (Yeah, i know, it looks that i got something inside my butt, and i have be careful and to let it open while it's inside).

There's no Halloween here. At least not in my room. That tradition is not domestic in Germany and I won't adopt it ... too much ta-ta ...
Of course, the shops are already selling plastic squash and stuff as they've been doing for a few years by now ... but definitely NOT TO ME ... ...

i dont mind the adoption of halloween US-style. it's roots are in a very old superstition brought about by the next day being All Hallows Day or the very religious Feast of All Saints, so holy a day that the spooks goblins demondim , witches etc would be unable to carry out any business thereon, and therefore had to run around like things possessed (pun intended) on All Hallows E'en. a load of old toss of course like all religious fairy-tales but i like seeing all the kids dressed up as the enemies of heaven in the name of Mammon out extorting sweeties with threats of violence and pestilence. it would have been a much more holy feast if they'd not bothered having All Saints Day at all. plus, what other time of the year can you get Skull pimt-mugs from asda for a quid.

It's traditional here in Ireland, being an ancient Celtic festival, and it's has always been marked. As kids we went "mumming" instead of trick or treating, and we carved turnips rather than pumpkins. Mumming involved going door to door and performing for the household by singing a song, reciting a poem or dunking for apples. They had to guess who you were beneath your homemade disguise and then they gave you sweets or fruit.
Of course it's become commercialised since then, but that's the way of the world. The way I see it, the winter is long enough and dreary enough as it is, so any chance to have a little fun is welcome.
