Books?

Does anyone know of any good biographical books that feature the sisters? I've been accepted as a mastermind contestant and I was hoping to have the sisters as my specialist subject but they're a bit iffy because there's no definitive reference works. I know there's a fair bit in The dark reign...By David Thompson but wondered if anyone knew of anything else?

I've not read Dark Reign but I'd be wary about books by journalists, given Certain Opinions voiced by Certain Diminutive Dodgy Goff Geezers about the nature of music journalism and music journalists. Then again, if you pull it off (and congrats on being accepted, btw ) you've got to let us know when you'll be on so that we can be suitably awed

Although not strictly "biographical", an excellent point of reference is the Sisters wiki.

Another great source of history is I Was A Teenage Sisters Of Mercy Fan.

You may also find some good stuff in the Sisters FAQs, resources & reviews & interviews sections in the Sisters boards here.
Barring that, there are a lot of folks here that might be able to fill in any gaps that you need filling.

Thanks everyone. I need printed sources because the question setters are wary of online sites where it's hard to verify the quality of info. They won't accept wikis at all which is a shame when there's so much fantastic detail in sites written by people who love the subject. I'm hoping they'll let me broaden the subject to Merciful Release but again it's finding good printed sources that's the fly in the ointment. Doesn't look like Von's autobiography might be published in the two weeks I've got to sort this out

Another source of information would be the scrapbook. That was initially a printed book & there are scans here

There was the French book, the chapter in the German book of interviews, and various other sections of books but no major printed sources in English which would produce the degree of info they would be looking for, even taking books of mainstream charts and indie chart placings, rock guides etc into account. There are mentions in so many books, from Johnny Marr to Dave Haslam, and of course the book about the band which developed out of The Sisters, but whether this is sufficient for the question setters I wouldn't know, as I suspect that self-published stuff like Heartland and the Rouska books would be viewed with the same suspicion as the 'net.
