The all new 'Who's Going Where and When' thread

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Gong to see the Reverend Horton Heat on Sunday. Having lived in Dallas for many years, I've seen him more times than I can count. He'll be good. What I'm REALLY excited about is seeing Dale Watson & His Lone Stars. I love Dale. He's great - been wanting to see him for years.

Went, actually - Mogwai at the 9:30 Club in DC last night. Fantabulous, and unbelievably loud. I cannot even imagine what it must have been like for those poor fools without earplugs.

New Model Army on saturday at the spiritual home of eastmids goth, Rock City.
a slight deviation from the usual as instead of Justin and Dean doing an "acoustic" set before the band' smain set, this year there will be 2 sets from the full band. (OOH!)
looking forward to seeing my (disputed) 3rd fave band for the 14th (15th?) time and letching at all those now grown-up second generation goth chicks (discretely, natch). :innocent: ;D

I saw Fields of the Nephilim at The Forum in London the other night.

Sigh. The experience was just as underwhelming as when I last saw them supporting The Mish in 2011. The complaints are much the same as we hear from a lot of jaded Sisters fans - bad sound and little in the way of suprise in the setlist - this is obviously less applicable to The Girls now seeing as the Roundhouse set had a couple of very pleasant suprises.

Back to the Nephs - who's mixing this band these days? Do they have ANY sense of subtlety? I should have seen it coming that they were going to botch Celebrate with really overmixed guitars. There was no atmosphere. The setlist also didn't make much sense - who runs Dead But Dreaming as the intro tape, DOESN'T go into For Her Light and instead goes into At The Gates of Silent Memory, which somehow managed to bore the tits off me live? This was followed by Dawnrazor, another slow song. Where was The Watchman, Sumerland, For Her Light...they didn't even play Preacher Man! Say nothing of suprise, are these not blindingly obvious choices for a FOTN set?

I probably sound bitchy - it wasn't a complete pissup, just noticeably underwhelming. It was also nice to watch Tony Pettit absolutely kill it on the bass. Skeletal Family on the other hand were absolutely class, loads of energy and Anne Marie's voice was on top form.

Earth Inferno is one of the most blistering live sets ever captured - it was also a long time ago. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh.

Agree with the above. Went last year in December and came out absolutely buzzing, left on Friday thinking meh.

Mix wasn't great. No Power or Preacher Man, 6/10. And my zip up hoody has the zip on the wrong side.

Really really wish I'd got up from my afternoon nap for Skeletal Family. But I did enjoy the nap.

Salvation anyone?
