That's another thing that surprised me - maybe it was where I was stood but, given that it was the Academy, the sound mix was great. Much better than Manchester, and off the scale compared to any gig I've seen there in the last 10-15 years.

Ah fkng hell I thought they'd played a gig of a lifetime, but the more comments and thoughts I see / hear the more I think it might just have been the pre-gig intervention.

My input is basically worthless because i was so hyped out  but where i was at the front it sounded fine, yes he's always a bit low at times, but it was good for me ;D

I'm still on a high after it all, it was amazing and no-one can tell me otherwise

Dave, don't get me wrong, as a band they are on an upward curve. New songs, most obv works in progress, but they're new and we're hearing them. This has to be good as, for one, I'm bored sh1tless by Dr Jeep, Detonation Boulevard and Flood II. Crash & Burn was a great surprise and and they do seem more together as a grouping again.

The mix regarding sequenced lap toppery and live guitars was okay but where we were, close to mixing desk, you could hardly hear Von until a good few songs in when his voice suddenly appeared.

This is it, it'll always be one of the best gigs I've ever seen them play, I'm just trying to figure out why. It's probably best just to stop overthinking it. There, done. Gig was up there with NEC 92, Forum 98 and JW 05 in my book. Result.

Thoroughly enjoyed the concert, as well as meeting some fellow HLers in the Dry Dock beforehand! Miffed to have missed the aftershow gathering but I did get a bit lost post gig and found myself back at the Dry Dock (which was in full Karaoke mode). I didn't venture in thankfully.

Charlie, it just shows you had the complete gig experience. I had a sore head next morning but I'm pretty sure that was nowt to do with the gig itself.

Has anyone else noticed that the old ringing ears thing rarely happens after gigs nowadays? I must go and see Swans again to test it out :)

Great photo! Was this after? I seemed to slink off home straight away despite fancying more booze.

Lovely to see folks anyway!

Was there ever a cooler looking bunch of gobshites? :notworthy:
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
