The stalls floor is actually pretty tiny in there. And spacious too, can't remember it ever being packed that tightly.

If I remember rightly initially there was talk of a second night option, but the sluggish sales nixed that. To be honest the promotional aspect wasn't great.

Interesting to read this and other posts, I have always thought the Sisters were a big band already at the time of RAH 85, and then it appears they didn't even sell 5000 tickets for their good bye concert. Whereas when I saw them for the first time at Brixton in '97, they had no problem selling out 2 x 4,000 tickets to that double date, already then several years since any release. And even if there was Internet in '97, it was still uncommon, and certainly not possible to order any tickets online.

I guess I have underestimated just how much bigger the Sisters got in the years 87-92...

At that point they were playing 1000 - 2000 capacity venues in the UK and frequently you could get tickets on the day. Indeed often we didn't decide to travel from Leeds, usually to M62 venues, until the afternoon of the gig anyway.

The RAH certainly had the first tier open and the stalls were not so packed that my 5' 4" partner struggled to see as was sometimes an issue. There was an early kick off though, which was said to have affected things, but like with all matters Sisters, this is better taken with a pinch of salt.

there was a screening of the film "Koyaanisquatsi" followed by an organ recital of Handel's Messiah and Lynyrd Skynyrd's Freebird; the last note's of which were followed so swiftly by the doktor's intro to FALAA that the recital was effectively the music the band came on to.

i have it on good authority that the Royal Box ( where i am told the acoustics were 'fucking awesome'.) was being used by for nefarious activities by -amongst others- some guy called lemmy for at least part of the evening;

Answering earlier questions I've seen Gary Numan there twice, once with an orchestra. The Cult, who were awful.
The Cure on the charity gig thing when they ran over curfew. I was in the very top row looking down on many bald heads which in earlier times would hva been much hairier..

Echo & the Bunnymen doing thier "reimagined" thing - I was the one who got up and danced, however uncoordinated.

I also have a thing about going there to see films shown with a live orchestra playing all the musical parts. Is expensive but a completely different experience.. The Godfather, Indiana Jones. Jaws (the best one), Star Wars, Aliens (surprisingly great), Brassed Off (I cried), Jurassic Park.. and various Harry Potters. And Skyfall.

Was supposed to be going to Terminator and Superman but Covid saw to that....

Just remembered, went there for a tennis masters thing with Macenroe, Henman, Ivanisevic etc.

Not sure how rock and roll I'm appearing here tbh....
