40 best song lyrics...

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

It's testament to Eldritch that the set of lyrics they've picked to put in their top 40 lyrics of all time, probably wouldn't even be in the top ten Sisters lyrics. Same goes for Nick Cave and Into My Arms. Nice to see those bands given some respect, though, and I fully understand why the compiler would go for the more well-known songs.

That's obviously choice made by the most popular songs, but, IMO, it's still nice to see that people remember about him and the band.

Putting the Sisters next to Sultans of Ping FC 'Where's Me Jumper' is an alarming juxtaposition.

Nice to see an appreciative entry for the Sisters. I particularly liked the observation that:

"Ever better, and from the same Floodlands (sic) album was “This Corrosion” – a track more epic than watching all three Lord of the Rings movies from the top of Mount Everest."

Still, IMO, 27 years on, Under the Gun remains Eldritch's undisputed, heavyweight champion lyric.

Couldn't agree more. Love 'singing' along with this, and every single time still feel s massive sense of pride if I don't slip up.

Some people get by with being able to quote huge tracts of their holy books. Impressive, but some people get by with being able to quote the entire Under the Gun lyric. :-)
