In honor of Sisters Day, there is a short interview up on Post-Punk about the book:

Happy birthday Sisters!
Book: Waiting For Another War
Yeah, thanks for that, really interesting.
Surprised to hear that people have said your dissection of Eldritch's personality comes across as too critical. It seems to me you pretty much hone in on his drive and vision for what The Sisters needed to do to become The Sisters.
Anyway, who wants a sympathetic Eldritch? Doesn't mean we don't love the prickly old curmudgeon.

Thanks for linking to the interview.
To me the description of Andrew Eldritch in your book was very balanced and definitely not overly critical. Like you, Trevor, I always admired those traits of character and tried to adhere to them myself. He actually comes across as a likable and interesting, multifacetted person. The curmudgeon-thing strikes me as somewhat recent. Well, maybe 15 years or so!?!
I really sometimes wonder why I put up with this again (for example NOTHING on Ruby Tuesday...)
I’ve been too disappointed to to keep on following the Sisters before, but l‘ve come back, as we all do sooner or later.
Mr Curmudgeon , you better be a bit more forthcoming to us or else...
Anyway. Can‘t await reading Volume II of your book!
And thank you, Trevor, for sharing some of your experiences around the times of the attack on the World Trade Center in your interview. It‘s unimaginable from watching the whole thing in front of a TV. I‘m really glad your life is so much better now!

Thank you.
Right! Good point.
Thanks. I've gotten more than a few private messages like this too. It's not quite a surprise, but it's nevertheless interesting, how many Sisters fans were touched directly by 9/11. Something I'd never exactly thought of before.

I decided to put up a short post in the (nearly-defunct) "Updates" section of the website about writing the book during 9/11, which is a part of the post-punk interview that has resonated more than I expected:

Waiting For Another War is back in stock at Rough Trade in Brick Lane:
https://www.roughtrade.com/gb/trevor-ri ... -1-1980-85
I've gotten some puzzled inquiries about why it keeps going in and out of stock. Rough Trade is a great place for me to sell this book because they also have a New York location. So I can drop books there, and they get shipped once or twice a month on a huge pallet of North American merchandise to the UK. London ships another pallet or two of EU/UK merchandise back here every month also.
What that means in practice is that the pallets have limited space on them, because Waiting For Another War is sharing space with boxes of new Brooklyn shoegaze CDs, Swans records, and other cool American exports. So they accept a limited number of boxes from me. Each box contains 28 books, and sometimes they only take one box. When that box sells out, we have to wait for the next pallet.
So get 'em while you can at Rough Trade, but rest assured that more are on the way in case it sells out.
For any international fans who can't get a delivery from Rough Trade in the UK, you can always order direct:
https://www.gkwfilmworks.com/sisters-no ... yers-order
For US buyers, Topos offers free shipping:
https://www.toposbookstore.com/product/ ... 02?cs=true
Actual distribution of this book is something I never considered before printing it, and it's a learning process.

I am happy to announce that
Waiting For Another War
A History of The Sisters Of Mercy Vol. I: 1980-1985
is now available on Kindle for $9.99:
https://www.amazon.com/Waiting-Another- ... 250&sr=8-1
On the heels of a four-star review from Record Collector Magazine, this is good news for me and, I hope, good news for Sisters fans across the world who wanted to read the book but found shipping costs from the US prohibitive.
Some photos are not licensed for the Kindle version, and the paperback remains the definitive collectors' edition.
You can get the paperback in the EU/UK at Rough Trade:
https://www.roughtrade.com/gb/trevor-ri ... -1-1980-85
US fans can order from Topos with free US shipping:
https://www.toposbookstore.com/product/ ... 02?cs=true
Thank you all for your support!
