"Ice" is another term for the long white line aka Logic aka the old you-know-what, isn't it?
Same ambiguity as "War On Drugs"

You're quite right. As I recall, the very early "moral panic" pieces I read about crystal meth were calling it "ice".H. Blackrose wrote: ↑06 Apr 2022, 02:26 "Ice" is another term for the long white line aka Logic aka the old you-know-what, isn't it?

Here's a first attempt from me
?
Let's not wave at?wait for? a man who's drowning
Your target's underwater
? Any town?time?
Wind? Your window down
?the window down
Don't drive on ice
?other side
Don't drive on ice
You're walking out of walls???
Don't drive on ice
It's all electric
Beware ? Sparks?
You took the ? It is ?
?
Don't drive on ice
Looking down the ??
Other side ?
Don't drive on ice
? Wrong side
Don't drive on ice

I'm going to turn my video off mute before guessing the words.
Possible meaning James Bond and his invisible car. He tried driving on ice. Didn't end well.

This one could possibly be seen from many angles.
Literally as in frozen water, or as in Von's "logic" as we'd say or perhaps the drowning may refer to climate change. Mind you, Mr Eldritch can't drive for what that's worth.

Oh yes, that's what I so love about Sisters lyrics. Just put the mirror to it and you've already got the other side for a starter ...
He can't drive? Never heard about that.FireInReptileHouse wrote: ↑06 Apr 2022, 21:29 Literally as in frozen water, or as in Von's "logic" as we'd say or perhaps the drowning may refer to climate change. Mind you, Mr Eldritch can't drive for what that's worth.
However, an intrinsic advantage of short lyrics is that this gives way to an almost endless amount of layers.
In the second line, I think I've heared
"What's the waving when he's drowning."
in the available recordings, but even these vary already enormously. The
"Wind the window down"
is in all so far and
"You took the bridge, but it's (broken?)"
"It's all electric."
"You're wearing sparks in manner wouldst" ... well might be a bit far-fetched but not outright excluded
I also somewhere guessed
Beware your travel face.
Dream on
Anyway, the lyrics are changing with every gig as usual with new Sisters tracks. But it's fun... ...

Really? What about that white Mercedes he got for selling the rights to WEA back in the early 90s?

I was only remembering the Request Video interview in 1991 where he stated he hadn't learned to drive - not that he maybe hadn't tried anyway - the same interview where he traumatised Gia de Santis with his "women and homosexuals should be allowed to kill Iraqis". However you may still be quite right I'm speculating

8 litre V10 Dodge Viper. Okay, strictly speaking this isn't exactly mine, but hey... One of the world's most impractical cars: the handbrake is a bastard, the roof leaks, the electronics are dodgy, it jumps at bumps and tramlines at the slightest hint of a rut. I wouldn't dream of cornering it in the wet. On the other hand, this black one is the best looking car ever and it's frighteningly fast in the right conditions. It goes round corners like a plank in a rail-gun (until, I suspect, the tyres just lose it) and the acceleration makes you laugh out loud. A gorgeous summer day, Gary Glitter on the stereo, and Life Is Good. In a very dangerous kind of way.
For sale: F registered Mercedes 230E, white, automatic, two previous owners. Answers to the name "Enterprise". One scuffed bumper and a slight dent in one back door. No phaser damage.
Today's vehicle of choice is a long-wheelbase Nissan Patrol, which looks like a tank and drives like ... a car, only much slower. Some people will tell you that the words "turbo diesel intercooler" sound sexy. I'm not one of them. I also believe that if you want to throw almost two and a half tonnes down the road, it might be nice to have more than two and a half litres to do it with (actually more than 2.. Never mind. The Patrol's got room for Big Stuff, and the ashtray in the Merc is full.

Here's my attempt after listening to the song far too many times.
Won't talk all that much
that's not waving that is drowning
your talk is [target's?] underwater
no sign of any town
wind your window down
can't wind the window down ***
-
Don't drive on ice
Don't mind the other side
Don't drive on ice
You're looking at a world of... (don't drive on ice)
Don't drive on ice
Don't drive on ice (don't drive on ice)
-
It's all electric,
there were sparks and then there weren't
you took the bridge and it is burned
-
Flame on (don't drive on ice)
you're looking at a world of [out the window?] don't drive on ice)
flame on the other side (don't drive on ice)
Etc...
-
(Solo, leading into..)
(chorus)
~
The only new variation in the last chorus is the use of the line:
"You're on the wrong side" instead of one of the previous embelishments.
Slightly torn about the line:
"You're looking at a world of [?]", instead possibly being: "You're looking out the window". I have chosen to go with the former after attempting to lip read.
***Personal note: Absolutely love this bit
Crossreferencing with the Nijmegen performance, does this all seem reasonable?

A man with a fictitious grin pondered the terrain in which he flooded with anguish, for this is England. The lion cannot be tamed, this is the game.
That's not waving that is drowning-- a reference to Chris' solo work --Able Seaman lyrics?
It's all electric,
there were sparks and then there weren't
you took the bridge and it is burned-- Too obvious maybe but he's done that before.
Flame on -driving on thin ice?

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

Do I count 180 bpm on this? Making it the fastest TSOM track ever, ahead of Better Reptile (176) and TOL (160)..
Or am I counting wrong and it's 90?

I recorded a instrumental demo of it this weekend and I put my DAW to 180bpm
Amazing stuff, I'm looking forward to the final release, especially considering that the mixing (and the song itself) for So Far Apart was outstanding!
(Btw, yesterday I pick up my guitar back from the Luthier, hopefully, I'll be able to record the lead track for Suzanne this week)
