Honestly believe that was the best I've ever seen them. Von's voice was really strong and up in the mix. The whole band was clearly having a great time - I don't think Von talked to the audience at all when I saw them in 2012. Dylan was climbing onto the monitors / edge of stage to do rock star poses - I yelled at him to stage dive, to no avail. Ben took his shades off for the encore and gave the audience the most disturbing stare/grin. They ended with a ridiculous hanging bow as the lights flashed off Von's shiny bald head.
Elko Fields were great, too. A gender-swapped White Stripes, only better than that sounds.
I hope the lads still have something in the tank for their inaugural Wellington gig! I have now heard "Giving Ground" live and can die happy.
