Hello.
I just joined this forum today, initially, as a part of the process of my search for the 'Waiting For Another War' book, but, now I'm here, might as well stick around a bit.
My name is Ian, I'm 51 years old, live in England and aged 15, in 1986, I was deeply entrenched in Goth culture and fortunately, that led me to The Sisters of Mercy, who became my favourite band. I've still got all the vinyl releases tucked away safely in the attic , as well as a very much exhausted bootleg cassette of a gig in 1985 (from memory think it's the Albert Hall).
So, yeah, being a teenage Goth in the 80's was brilliant. I lived in Bristol and we had a large Goth contingent, a fair few bands came to play but I was too young too actually see them, besides The Damned, who I went to see with my girlfriend's older brother.
Many, many hours were spent lying on my bed, headphones on, listening to The Sisters, completely immersed in another dimension.
All these years later, I still listen to The Sisters, still absolutely love the music (prefer 1985 era to be honest) and find myself writing this indulgent nonsense for some reason.
I've been binging on Youtube today and watched every AE interview I could find; some real classics out there. Is it 'Beatpoint' or similar, with a German guy and Andrew sitting in an armchair, getting pissed? Quality.
Anyway, I'm bored with my own internal dialogue now.
In summary, I'm a middle-aged man, was a teenage Goth, still a bit obsessed with Andrew Eldritch and The Sisters and I'm saying hello.
Just saying hello.
Hello again

Aye up. Welcome to

As the day is long.
Thanks all.
I forgot to add that I did eventually see the Sisters live, at Roskilde Festival, Denmark, 1997. I wasn't expecting the Sisters to play (they filled in last minute for another band) and I was surprised to see Andrew with bleached hair and white suit, but the set was amazing and a bit of a dream come true for me.
Also, I bought WFAW on digital and so far the quality seems fine. It's compelling reading. 'Paint my name in Black and Gold' will arrive in the post for me today, so I'm quite immersed in Sisters right now.
Not entirely surprisingly, I had a dream about Andrew last night. Can't recall the exact context but it was 1985 era Andrew and I had made a paper mache model of the Sisters logo and was showing him it. I was anxious that he wouldn't approve. Pretty funny

Hello! You certainly sound like one of the locals
Biscuit?
Biscuit?
I don't wanna live like I don't mind
HI. Yes they did. The set was almost entirely Floodland / Vision Thing, if I recall correctly. I admit to being a bit sad about no Temple of Love, Emma, Marian. Actually, it was 1998, not 97. Just looked it up. Black Sabbath, Slayer also played.MadameButterfly wrote: ↑25 Feb 2023, 01:19 oh yeah welcome to HL

I haven't heard that one, is it one of the new tracks played live? Catchy title.
