Ruminating on this one ... are there any decent and cheap hotels near to Rock City that anyone can recommend from previous adventures?
edit : booked, tickets and Chapel Bar Premier Inn, you can add Charlie and myself to the roll call

I would love to be at this one.... it's my birthday!
But unbelievably there are no direct trains from Glasgow to Nottingham

I have seen The Sisters at The Paradiso. I will die happy

I've been to Glasgow from Nottingham a couple of times. Your easiest route is probably Glasgow to Leeds, then Leeds to Nottingham. That's the east coast route.Gothicbiff wrote: ↑27 May 2023, 00:46 I would love to be at this one.... it's my birthday!

West coast is generally quicker (maybe by an hour) but more of a faff.

My issue is that I have mobility problems so anything other than a direct journey is stressful, particularly as I would be travelling alone.
But I'll have a look at going via Leeds

Well it is your birthday, and me and Charlie will be travelling to Nottingham from Leeds on the train, so if it's possible to co-ordinate sensibly I'm sure I can help you lug a rucksack or whatever around Leeds train station if necessary. Where there's a will there's a way and all that.Gothicbiff wrote: ↑30 May 2023, 12:50Thanks for the info Ribbons69ribbons69 wrote: ↑30 May 2023, 01:21I've been to Glasgow from Nottingham a couple of times. According to Cinder Carla we're all tourists! But I guess you'd have to play Armored Core VI to appreciate that. So ignoring my waffling, me and Charlie will also be total tourists in Nottingham, and more than happy to go with the flow and recommendations

The tap is close but might be quite full, the Pit is a bit more of a schlep. If you want a decent pint and somewhere to sit down there is a bar in the front of The Royal Centre called Yarm that has good beer but is often almost empty (if there isn't anything on at the Theatre) It's two minutes walk from Rock City , down Talbot street then turn right. It's also across from Langtrees, another good pub.

With that many variables, best bet is to collect a coupla mobile numbers before the day and find out where folk are at the time, or keep eyes peeled for flags in pub windows of course, that always works
All that said, we'll prolly end up in the queue sooner than initially anticipated in a mad urge to claim tour hoodies, the fear of them selling out before we get ours is too real
One month today, and the giddiness is already growing

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"
