The Cure

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

November 1st 2024.
Wowser, I never thought I'd see the day. On a related, did any fellow Cureheads manage to nab a copy of the super limited edition November: Live in Paris 2022 single released last month? I only just heard about it and am kicking myself for missing it. I can't even find any rips online....
I didn't. But I wouldn't touch vinyl with a ten foot pole anyway.
It doesn't start shipping until October 1st, so you won't see any rips just yet.
Last week people started receiving cryptic postcards with the release date on plus a couple of posters at The Railway pub in Crawley where they played their first gig (when it was still The Rocket). This week billboards have started popping up in Madrid, Rome & Toronto so far.
They've also launched a secret website for updates
Cheers.

Thanks very much, that's all really useful information. In particular, I had no idea about the 1 October shipping date. That explains why I couldn't find a thing on the web

I've heard them play this track live and thought it was really good. Wasn't prepared for how much better it sounds with a full studio production.

Begs a question about a certain other group of performers who also play music that hasn't been recorded. Hmmm.

When I saw them last in Dec 22 they started with this and it caught me very much unawares, had tears rolling down my cheeks and the lady next to me checking I was ok.

"Yeah but you've got the live versions." We had the live versions of this as well and it's not quite the same is it?

I'm THAT guy but for me it's just alright. It kind of meanders along for the first half but improves in the second. I prefer the poppy Cure of Lovecats and Inbetween days so it doesn't do much for me but it's by no means terrible. I'd much prefer a new Sisters single of course! We can but dream...

Heard it for the first time today, and it reminds me of the first time I heard Lovesong from Disintegration; I found it extremely beautiful, and appealing, but I realised that simply my Cure-Days where over. When I listen to the Cure today, it's the trinity of Faith to Pornography, and sometime a bit of Head on the Door. I love Kyoto Song and especially A Night like this.

But I must admit that he makes quite a statement with this new song.

The song itself is very good, but is the distortion done on purpose or did Spotify mess it up?

Shouldn't that be the trinity of Seventeen Seconds to Pornography (else it wouldn't be a trinity)? Yes, this is my favourite Cure period as well, but I still like what they do today, and their concert in Munich Oct 2022 was simply awesome.

Not heard the spotify one, but the resolution & compression there is so low I doubt much does sound that great.
I acquired a decent lossless copy that was also compressed to oblivion. It was completely brick walled. But I soon obtained another one which is way better.
I am looking forward to the multichannel bonus blu ray with the deluxe CD version
Cheers.

Yes, of course. I always mix up Seventeen Seconds and Faith as for 2nd and 3rd. Dyslexic me.

I'm sure they're still great, but somehow, I don't know. The Sisters are the only band I go to concerts from way back then, even when the concert has a chance to fail.

Alright, so here we a few days into October so rips should be starting to emerge. As a fellow Cure fan, any idea where I might them? ;)

Those mass first listenings are fun.
Is there a place that we could chat live while hearing it all together? :D
I remember we had lots of fun on the Iron Maiden japanese concept album :) :notworthy: :bat:

Quite refreshing to see that the Friday song didn't get anywhere near that list

They include my favourite; A Night Like This. I don't know why I have such a crush on this song...

And the inevitable A Forest tops the list. Yep, I guess I can live with that!

I would have liked to see Faith top the list; it would have been more of a "fans list" than a "critics list" if so. But I guess A Forest was inevitable, and still a good enough mix.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
