As it looks, Atlanta will also be affected by Hurricane Helene. Let's hope the Coca Cola Roxy is safe ... ...

Well, parts of Atlanta were flooded overnight, but the worst seems over. AND there's no sign so far that the concert won't take place ... ...

Someone on Facebook was saying this was the worst gig they'd ever seen?

Same guy also said it was all dubbed, when confronted with the fact that how come is it dubbed if von keep getting wrong lyrics and queues ins show after show, he backed up and said it was the synths, bass and drums.H. I was in the toilet at the Roundhouse last year and one bloke was moaning that Von was miming and it was a disgrace whilst someone else was moaning that you couldn't hear Von and his voice was s**t. Now one of those could be true, but they cannot both be true AT THE SAME GIG.Husek wrote: ↑28 Sep 2024, 22:10Same guy also said it was all dubbed, when confronted with the fact that how come is it dubbed if von keep getting wrong lyrics and queues ins show after show, he backed up and said it was the synths, bass and drums.H. Seems they're currently experimenting with Kai's voice, which sounds really good in parts, as they can
produce a similar say timbre as Von can in the low ranges, but of course it's not the same. Decades of
cigs and what, with the latter being more important, no way to do that in a few weeks ... ... apart
from the fact that too much imitation is hardly desirable. However, I like Kai's voice and I think it's rather
astonishing, how well it blends in with The Sisters. Colourful, but not sideways or over the top ... ...

Somebody always does. You'd think people go into it not even knowing what the band is like.H. Blackrose wrote: ↑28 Sep 2024, 21:36 Someone on Facebook was saying this was the worst gig they'd ever seen?
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

In fairness the Roundhouse gigs were ropey as fk on many basic levels of gig / performance, for all the well-known reasons. We all had a fkng great time on Saturday night as we watched Ben become (he may have been already but we hadn't noticed) The Hero of The Sisters Of Mercy. A more casual gig attendee would've likely thought 'what a fkng under-rehearsed racket'.ribbons69 wrote: ↑29 Sep 2024, 05:41I was in the toilet at the Roundhouse last year and one bloke was moaning that Von was miming and it was a disgrace whilst someone else was moaning that you couldn't hear Von and his voice was s**t. I was talking to a local outside the pub on the Friday night, post-gig (Roundhouse last year to be specific). She'd never seen the band before and only dimly remembered them from years ago, but had toddled along for something to do on an otherwise quiet night. I remember her being absolutely fascinated by what she'd just witnessed, wondering what was going to happen on the following night, but ultimately it not being too important as she wasn't much of a fan anyway.
That's interesting context to a bad gig, and I think it amply demonstrates that a lot of what you take out is dependent on what you put in.

It would just be nice if, on occasion, it was an informed one.

Honestly I tear my hair out about the people who think they need a bass guitarist, 33 years after Tony James quit and they didn't feel the need to replace himmh wrote: ↑29 Sep 2024, 08:53Somebody always does. (I think they should get Tj back for a one-off guest spot, à la Terri Nunn or Duncan Kilburn, with the provision that he plays the Ssspace Guitar through the Doktor)

In the charlotte gig from last week I was standing next to a Blaqk Audio fan who was just there for the opening act and knew nothing of the Sisters, and she decided to stay for a couple songs into the girls' set, but before they got on stage she asked if they had a live drummer and I had to break the news that their drummer was a program on a mac and she seemed very confused (which is odd because blaqk audio also doesn't have a live drummer)
