a nice Mish list?

i've just converted some tapes and i can't find them anywhere else?

Kilburn 25.11.86 - MX recording, and why were tickets only a pound?

Sheffield 18.03.87 - apparently not the full gig? But I don't remember hearing some of the songs I've seen listed on another site, as played on the night in question - because of the very late start,? anyway, what i have is MX.

Borderline fan club 07.11.88. bought Reading 1989 - second half (i didn't want the first half :? ) but not cut, or radio (as seen listed on another site)

Finally, about half of the metal gurus gig. i used to have the full gig, but "lost" it. Wouldn't mind being reunited, if someone has it :wink:

Ah, was that you. I was wondering - one of the tracks is double and must be taken from a record. Unusual tracklisting. They couldn't get the kit over so that was why Scott wasn't there I believe. Gave Mark (ex guitarist) a copy of that one actually.

I taped it on audio (since lost) and on my HDD. I think I only have MP3s left these days. I can dig then out if you've got questions. I traded them with blood brothers.

They played the same main set in Cape Town, but the encore lasted about an hour.

Do you know if there is a tape of that one? Or any of the other dates during the recon 2000 tour. Think Wayne & Mark were also over in 1995 and part of the band played the Kylami Race Track fesitval in '96 - ever seen/hear that one?

No tapes that I'm aware of, no. There were less than 300 people at the Cape Town gig. I remember leaving feeling a bit disappointed, but that might've been because of the school hall they played in. They tried to get a local drummer to join in for 1969 during the encore but that went tits-up very quickly. Also Wayne's monitors didn't work until the last song of the main set and he had a hissy fit about it.

The kylami gig and all the others took place in Johannesburg, so I didn't go to any but I've got a friend there who did, I can pester him for details if you like.

I remember he said he say them at the doors, which is the same venue as the recent Justin Sullian warm-up gig I went to: www.lak.co.za/nmasa It got a weird stage, only about 2 metres deep but about chin high!

I had a boot of the Nottingham Rock City gig from October 86.

It was a fan club only gig to warm up for the Expedition 2 tour, and tickets were only £1.

Wayne says 'Not bad for a quid, next time we'll do it for free".

I didn't know that they did the same deal later in the tour.

One touching thing about the CT gig was Wayne singing Like A Child to a blind girl sitting on the stage, although I don't think he realised she was blind at the time.

Whilst on the topic of thing Mish: Have you got Hussey's remixes of the 2 No Friends Of Harry tracks? I can send you MP3s if you need.

I taped over the show ages ago, but I might still have the cover somewhere (what a hoarder!) I'll have a hunt around tonight.
Chances are they will have played the same set anyway.

When I read your 1st post, I did wonder if you had a mistaken venue listing? Although my tape wasn't from the desk, just an audience recording.

I was at the Notingham show so I can guarantee that was definately £1 entry fee, was anyone at London on the same tour?

The first time they were out here they played at the Doors (the old one in the middle of JHB). They played an unplugged set, as there were only 2. And they only played for 2 nights. The venue was absolutely packed, and you could hardly move. It was one of the first times a big alternative name came to SA. This was around the Carved in Sand / Stone era (Amelia was a big hit then, Deliverance was being played big time, Butterfly on a Wheel, etc.). I still think this was them at the top of their game. How things changed........................

Then the next time they were here they played at the 5FM birthday party at Kyalami, open air concert. It pissed like crazy just before they played. They were really really good that night, and it was one of the best concerts of the m*****n. This was a full electric band. This was around the Masque album. You can imagine a whole bunch of "back in black coffin kids" jumping around soaked to the skin. The atmosphere was really good. Like a Child Again was my favourite at the time, and the band duly obliged.

The 3rd time they were here they played at the "new" Doors (the one we went to in Edenvale). They played on their "Resurrection" tour. This time it was Wayne, Craig and the guitarist (whoever). Wayne was out of his tree, forgot lyrics, and made a total dickhead of himself. Some of my friends even left early it was so bad. A real pity as the previous 2 gigs were awesome.

Now I almost never listen to the m*****n because of the last gig. Although I have started again as some of their guitar work is nice and easy to play along to. Of course, I will give the band their dues, as they really were one of the first big alternative names to come out, and for that I salute them, even if they are too pissed to acknowledge........................

I have a friend I will contact who is a bit more of a fan than me, and I will ask him the same question.

A small advertisement for this gig was published in some Brittish music mags: "The m*****n, Rose Of Avalanche + special guests". The gig was promoted by DNA and the ticket price was £4.50 advance - £5 doors. Which makes it the "most expensive" gig of the november tour (tickets for all other dates: £4 advance - £4.50 door)!!!!

Hmm. Apparently, on the advertisements for the whole november tour, the following information is written: "tickets for all dates £4.00 adv. £4.50 door (except London £4.50 adv. £5.00 door) available from usual agents or by post from DNA Entertainments...

The Rose Of Avalanche supported the Mish on the whole tour. Dates:

is from the 25th November 1986 gig, the m*****n did indeed charge £1 to get into the Kilburn National but that was on the 20th February 1990 as it was filmed by Channel 4 for a programme called Rock Steady, the m*****n played a warm up gig the night before at the Marquee and the gig listings for 1990 would be very different. The Kilburn gig in 1990 was quite short about 1 hour as that was all that was wanted by the TV company.

I managed to dig out the cassette cover for the £1 gig.

Nottingham Rock City 28/10/86, A secret Rendezvous, fan club only gig.

Exactly same track listing as above.
