Maybe the production chain of the japanese mixes comes just closer to the sound of the actual "livingston studio/london" master reels like we would expect it from the mofi release. That would mean the so called "original release" has been gone through more changes (soundwise) after the initial recording/mastering session.

Hi, just received my copy of FALAA Mofi vinyl, not listened to it yet..do that later when it's dark :von: . I am a little disappointed that the original inner sleeve is not present, I know this is all about the listening experience but I still would have liked the orignal artwork complete. By the way I used to visit here under a different name etc, been away for a while and had to re-register as forgot my login details. Nice to be back ;D

It sounds good, but it doesn't use the original mixes.

DocSommer wrote:cheers,

I'm looking forward to the final reply - this is the actual list of questions I've sent:
1. Why did you choose this album for a re-Release?
2. How did you get in touch with the original master tapes of the recording sessions?
4. Aren't those tapes more or less degenerated during decades of storage?
5. Can you tell us something about the technical processing that makes your transfer more audiophile compared to the previous releases?
6. The product info reveals that this is going to be a "limited edition" - how many copies are you going to press?
7. Are there any plans to offer this new transfer in other forms as well (CD/HighRes Audio...)?
8. Talking about more releases: Are you going to re-release the other albums of "The Sisters of Mercy", like "Floodland" or "Vision Thing"?
Hi Doc, did you ever get a reply from MFSL?

Digging this back up...

Compared this to my 85 original pressing and the 1990 remaster pressing and this pressing pisses all over the pair of them.

I know this record backwards and this is the best pressing to date. IMHO of course.
