How many gigs have you seen?....

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Sounds cliched, but I've had lots of great times and met lots of very nice people from touring. Favourites dates include:

York 01 - over the moon to be there, meeting lots of people for the first time plus the surreal vision of Eldritch handing out cake to the front row!
Leeds 01 - great buzz in the Fenton before the gig with same people from night before.
Pukkelpop 01 - my first time at a festival and it was everything it should have been!
Warsaw 03 - great gig - well worth standing for ages in the snow for
London 03 (2nd night) - hypnotising gig, particularly after crap one the night before
Tilburg 05 - total chill-out weekend
Lokeren 05 - stunning gig (top rankin'), stunning venue and walk through the woods in the dark back to stunning gothic hotel
Phoenix 06 - great people, great weather, great gig
Albuquerque 06 - stunning gig with Chris spinning round on 1 leg onstage like a clockwork mouse on speed
Monterrey 06 - first time in Mexico, great gig, great atmosphere and very friendly people
Fort Lauderdale 06 - our accommodation was like the Bates Motel but I have very fond memories of it.
Philadelphia 06 - fun drive there with Petseri, nice city and good aftershow
Anaheim 06 - my personal favourite gig - my mood was lifted from low to sky high without the use of chemicals!
San Francisco 06 - where we found a cheap pub and then fell into the doorway of a porn theater opposite the venue:-D
Paris 06 - hell freezing over with 2nd outing for that coat!
Hamburg 06 - great food, great venue, great gig, great pub!
Koeln 06 - Jambalaya!
Glasgow 06 - tug of war during Giving Ground with James Ray as the rope.
Bilbao 06 - great weather, great gig and much-needed luxury hotel room.

I was more concerned about ending up tied between 2 trucks - the place was straight out of The Hitcher. I've got fond memories of that hotel though (apart from the puddle in the room and non-existant airport shuttle). Poolside pizza was a laugh and weather was good enough to use the pool. And not forgetting that guy at the desk whose politics were probably somewhere to the right of George W. Bush! He thought we were both British so he liked us

@ Andrew:

- Fort Lauderdale: Oh, yes, now that you mention it....
- Anaheim: I recall that for some reason that elapses me right now it was a particularly good show, as I remember both of us sitting in the bar above with rather broad silly grins on our faces.
- Last but not least: New York! The show and the aftershow. No comment but very fond memories.

And what I also completely forgot: The splendid time we had in Mexico City: great gig, PACKED venue, and a great time with Enrique, his brother and their mates. And the pyramides.

@ SinSister: Yes, we should have had more time. And I count on you to sneak into Europe this year for one gig or another... Whatever it takes transport-/accomodationwise can be arranged.

..... :D

Should I list my 101 gigs in order not to be underestimated in comparison to Andrew and Eggi? Yes, I think I have to, but I'm too lazy. And at work. Serious work now, not just the 30% "hobby" I had when I still was at University.... :urff:

Here we go,here is my short list.In fact I think that the best was to meet some of you folks and to travel with my best friend.

Rendsburg 1997.What a trip! More than 2 hours with 3 "encores".The best gig ever (even some "Wessies" harrassed some nice "Ossies" people."Mauer im Kopf", ne Eggi?).

Mera Luna 2000.Me and tuco on a "trans-germany-excess bars touring". I only missed Stu on the brazilian bar (but I haven't missed the bar though).Great show, but a little short.First version of top nine out (I thought that it was an introduction for temple of love).Oh eh, excuse in advance for my germans friend but "Becks" is just crap.

Bonn 2001.Excellent gig, and great meeting with nice people in the bar of the museum. andrew in good mood and brilliant end of the gig.

Bex 2002. Nice venue in the moutains. Strange to hear speaking french before the gig. First time that I've heard rumour about the DVD (we're in 2007...).Great gig, just in front of Andrew, but I've lost my partner in crime (Tuco you don't have to drink so much vodka)

Paris 2006.I've lied to my administration to come here (the alibi was a marriage in my family).I couldn't miss that. Nice people again and a cool aftershow party in "les furieux".

Zottegem 2006.I'm ready to go. Not absolutly sure but I'll do my best.
