mine was called O'Malley, I had to have her 'put down' when she broke her leg, I vowed never to have another pet, I kept that vow
she wasn't much fun and bit me twice as well as eating parts of the sofa but I thought she was cute, like most of the women I've fallen for - looks do not make a nice creature

I had to look after the school hamster for the weekend when I was a wee scrap.
It snuffed it & I had to explain to the rest of my year why.
I was 8 years old ffs!

I have a pet gecko I bought about ten years ago when I was young enough to think it would be cool. My opinion has changed now. Hold up let me find a relevant piece of writing...
Here it is!
I think my pet gecko suffers more than I do. I bought him the best part of a decade ago when it seemed to me that having a pet lizard would be the coolest thing ever, and he's been languishing in a glass box ever since, having not set eyes on a lady gecko since he was seperated from his brothers and sisters back when he was a wee nipper. He tries to climb his glass walls sometimes and it tears me up, though I haven't found a decent solution to his no-climbing predicament.
But then, perhaps he has it easy compared to the crickets in the box that was left in the hall overnight. I found them all huddled together in a pile, barely able to move. The cold must have taken them out. First I picked out the ones that were able to walk, between my fingers since they hadn't the life left in them to try and jump away. But perhaps more wretched than them were the others, lying in a pile of their backs, who I watched for the twitch of a limb or an antenna, before picking them up by the legs and dropping them into the sandy pit of their demise, littered with the broken bodies of their brothers and sisters. I can see them now, coming to life in the comparative warmth of the vivarium. Once they're on their feet he sees them as prey and no sooner have they felt the warmth return to their failing bodies than they are bitten in half or swallowed whole to play out the rest of their miserable existences being eaten away by his stomach acids.
Some of the little bastards are still wriggling, they've got spunk I'll give them that. Off to the pit, you'll make a fine meal!

The first fish my kids got they were too young for that!
My son put his sister's fish in his mouth I don't know for how long but suffice the fish died. We buried it in the garden and then planted a pototoe so he could still eat...
Any animal in a cage should not be there....let them free, they can do without us! Nature needs them more.

Fashion him some little gekko-sized kitchen plungers that he can attach to his feet - or rub sand paper on his feet to give him a little 'purchase'
Allo and welcome by the way.

Well now this is rather more entertaining than the usual Hello-I'm-so-and-so-and-will-never-post-again-on-this-forum threads. I feel obliged to protect the delicate sensibilities of our resident Cureboi/man (and owner of Fat Bob dolls, for shame!)... but apart from that, welcome!

I couldn't care about The Cure one way or another, they made some good records and some crap ones. But I hate rodents - KILL THE HAMSTERNOW!!

How can you hate rodents? They're so much better than dogs and cats - they get all the love. Rodents are funny... scurry scurry scurry scurry STOP! scurry scurry scurry...

I wouldn't say I hate hamsters ... innocent little animals ... however, I've never met a reasonable person who owned a hamster ...

Hello
Started getting into the Cure just now really. I always kind of thought they were the lesser gods of 80's cool bands, but I'm really changing my opinion on this.
It started changing when I downloaded "join the dots" and realized their range is much broader than one would expect knowing the hits they had...
Also it turned out that they share a common passion with the sisters: making good covers!

Suicide in your prime is just bloody stupid!
Now Lemmy could drop dead tomorrow safe in the knowledge that after more than forty years in rock 'n' roll he's never done anything that will shame his name.
Fact!
Difference of opinion aside, hello and welcome to the forum.
