Just in case West Yorkshire Police are reading this, my wish list was entirely theoretical and I'm sure that I have an alibi for the day in question.

If we change the title to "What would you take if Von offered you one thing from his basement?" can we go back to being frivolous?
And I stand by taking the neon shirts--the west Yorkshire PD would understand.
but I keep wondering, what would
's basement be like?

* well, alternatively, I might take the risk to want anything he'd think suitable for me ... oh hell, careful now ...

No fun ruined! I'm just very pro frivolity- helps balance out the grimness.
But back to silly - after Von lets me take all the neon shirts, I think, with the right bait I could lure out the parallax (a small winged creature. Pallid and slight, nocturnal in his habits, with a curious reflective shield over his eyes). But what is the right bait-hot metal, Miss Detroit?

Dark, cavernous - bats hanging from the ceiling, coffins strewn about. Von's basement is Dracula's crypt.

A sea of empty marlboro packets & vodka & cranberry bottles with a keyboard in the middle somewhere.

With some ancient computer parts, old legal writs, books on TS Eliot and Chinese Philology, an old fencing kit bag and a much-thumbed copy of Go Figure : How To Get Your Own Way in Business.

It won't just be a Police Car, you'll have a Black Maria in your eyes with that kind of attitude.

hmmm.... think I'd prefer a Black Maria to the US version - a paddy wagon. Policing in the US being what it is.

And can we assume his basement is subject to "flood"?

I don't think his flat has been burgled. But the dressing room was in 2006. They lost loads off two laptops

That must be where they lost all that new material they're "always recording" (c) any interview in the last twenty years.
For some reason, this made me think of that legendary day that Bob Monkhouse had his joke book stolen (inside his briefcase) by some poor, unsuspecting thief.

Yes, that actually happened, and it was back in 1993. The incident was mentioned briefly in the 'Surely Some Mystique' interview with Melody Maker.
Some fans apparently burgled his home in Leeds for Sisters memorabilia.

Chris will now be reporting this thread to Von, which'll give him a new reason to hire a lawyer. If he doesn't hire one every few years he has withdrawal symptoms.

2006 at Leeds because I was talking to Ben about it on the way to Manc the next day.
They lowered themselves through a skylight into the dressing room. Von was annoyed because he had to chat to rozzers whilst B & C carried on the beer.
Von moved the bus to Manc early so B & C had to get the train down the next morning with us.
