Fantastic atmos. 3+ hour game, beer on tap, toilets less than a 2 min. walk, hot soft-salty pretzels, sunshine and very, very friendly peeps.

Magnificent! :D
:notworthy: Fellow NFL fan.

I wanted to ask if you were a Falcons fan, how come the 'Dirty Birds' ?

P.S. Those American pretzels are fantastic, eaten one at the Grand Canyon last year ...

I have never trusted anything he and his administration have done, and I have been firmly against the stupid war from the beginning (well, I supported what was done in Afghanistan, but what's going on in Iraq is BS). I love this country, but I hate where it is going. I am going to do everything I can to get Bush out of office, and so are MANY of my friends. Anyway, I shudder at how the USA must look to the rest of the world right now, but please understand there are a whole lot of us here that are trying our hardest to fix things. I hope to go to Europe someday, so if you meet me and my ugly East Coast American accent, I hope you will be nice to me.

When you say Bush was handed the election, is that strictly true?

Given the low turn-out it's more like he found it lying around on the sidewalk and put it in his pocket while no-one was paying much attention.

I sympathise with those Americans who voted against him and who can justly feel robbed. But all those who didn't bother to hang their chads? Tough buns, boys. Democracy is a two-way street.

I agree. If you cannot be bothered to register, don't complain later. Only sad thing is that the outcome of a US presidential election has effect on us all, not just Americans.

Although I agree about low-voter turnout, in this case when one says Bush was "handed" the election, it is strictly true. Bush did not win the popular vote, and should not have won the electoral vote. Had he not been "handed" Florida's electoral votes by his brother Jeb, he would not have won the presidency.* But that's all old hat, ain't it?

*This last statement is, of course, subject to endless debate, but numbers are numbers, and the numbers didn't support Bush's victory until enough recounts made them do so. Objective reality and all that, unless your brother's the governor.

Yes, but there's a new "flip-of-coin" election coming up in a few months, I hope people will have a little more sence this time (you know the "lesser of two evils" and all that) ... Still I have a feeling that this one will be "close" again. Wait and see.

Well, it's not much use hoping the American people will have more sense this time, because you have to remember that the American people had enough sense not to elect Bush the last time.

That said, I think the election will be very close, and unless something happens before November to strengthen the Democratic showing, I have a sickening feeling that Bush will be elected legitimately this time. But I'm not voting for his crazy ass.

Maybe I should have said I hope they don't grow out of sense then :) . Having sense in this case could also mean that more people should register, maybe it doesn't have to come to the ridiculous situation as last time (?).

I feel John Kerry might be a little bit too uncharismatic to win by a large margin, so it will depend on how things fare in Iraq, as you say "something" will have to happen ...

I don't know if I'm reading your post correctly, but are you allowed to vote in America? (I am assuming you are English ?)

You will vote tho CP? People fought for your right to vote.

If 'A Government' took away that right, just what the hell would we do?

If I have one belief, it is the right to make my own mind up, right/wrong, I don't care.

I have the choice

Sorry peeps, I don't usually get involved in these discussions, but I believe in the freedom to vote and I am very let down by the British attitude of 'whoever you vote for, the Government always get in'.

Heh. Bush strikes me as having the attitude of "If it's good for American business, then the rest of the world can go f*ck."

This may go down well with certain sections of the American public, but the rest of the world finds it a little tiresome.

You can refine the to "If it's good for BIG American businesses"
