JB - I bought Oil and Gold on the back of hearing This Big Hush on Peel decades ago, but never followed it up even though on reflection that track is probably in my top ten most played.

Recommend me a next album purchasing port of call please sir! :notworthy:

Don't think I have ONE favourite after TSOM.

I think that I would put in joint second Iggy/ NIN/ Ministry/ Rammstein/ Depeche Mode.

(I've probably missed a couple off too)

Bauhaus
The Chameleons
Catherine Wheel
Psychedelic Furs

Along with the Sisters, these artists make up a sizable chunk of my record collection. Seven copies of "Burning from the Inside", and it's not even a particularly good album

How come I didn't feel it shake? :(

Oh right, it was like all of the others...I wasn't born then :innocent:

But at least I'm around for the afterglow ;D (And in fairness they are still putting stuff out, unlike certain people. Shame they haven't played the Wirral recently though  )

By the way, nice Dukla Prague Away Kit ;)

Still giging, and the audiences are growing in numbers. Not quite the Sisters 2,000 but enough to sell out smaller venues.

Still putting out albums and ep’s with a consistency to match Trumpton Riots et al.

Even dedicated their last gig to John Peel.

Quite refreshing to see someone in the music business doing something they enjoy rather than not doing something because the fiscal reward isn't big enough. Credit where credit is due.

I quite like the Dukla Prague Away Kit. Quite fetching. Many thanks. If I could find some Joy Division Oven Gloves.....that'd be so much better

nma,siouxsie,crass,x-rayspex,dead kennedys...*as and when.

*rest of list unsubmitted due to scale of task(though not as big a task as listing all the bands who,IMHO,are not fit to breathe the same air as above)

Good f'kin call that man, and although musically not exactly the Sisters, imho they have a similar inegrity and intensity, and whilst the references are different the lyrical sharpness is a good match

Indeed, the song "13 Eurogoth's floating in the dead sea" has nothing bad to say at all.

Cindytalk
Duran Duran
Psychedelic Furs
Bauhaus
Simple Minds before the heart and soul (Mick MacNeil) left
Elvis Presley
Randy Newman
Diamanda Galas
March Violets
.... and on it goes.

Dunno if anyone here is familiar with the beautiful ambient/gothic experi-noise of Gordon Sharp's Cindytalk band. (He also did some vocals for 4AD's 'houseband', This Mortal Coil.)

Last time I heard from Gordon, via e-mail, he was living in Southern California. I can't recall exactly where, Perris I think, which is a dusty Outback type of town where an actor I know (Lance Kerwin - big in the 70s) ended up to dry out when he became Born Again. Anyway, turns out Gordon was once offered to front Duran Duran, but he turned them down. His bank balance is probably still hurting...

only know Gordon Sharp via This Mortal Coil, can you recomend an Introduction to Cindytalk?

I use to have the Cindytalk albums on vinyl. I sold them and never quite got around to replacing them in CD format.

The last time I spoke to Gordon he seemed fairly mobile, moving around the US, and he didn't have any copies of his own CDs and therefore couldn't send me any.

But I got the first album, from 1984, on CD from eBay. It's called Camouflage Heart. It was originally a vinyl album on the Midnight Music label from Watford in England. Later, Cindytalk albums were re-issued (on CD) by the World Serpent label.

The second and third albums had the same title, In This World. Both album covers were similar, the album titles were the same, both were launched at the same time, but the music was different. (When they were re-released on CD I think the two albums had been combined.)

Those would be my first suggestions if you were looking to buy some Cindytalk. The other popular ones were the mini-album, Secrets And Falling, or a later work called Wappinschaw. All of these show up on eBay in small amounts. Camouflage Heart is probably the best place to start.
