I've just drunk a litre bottle of cider and am slightly too tipsy to know what you mean.

Remember I know where you live.

First record: Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall. And shortly afterwards The Wall

First proper band: Pink Floyd

And yes, I still do listen to them now, but not as often as I used to. I got deeply into them when I was 11 and so formed a pattern of obsession, although with the Sisters it was taken to a new level...

Blondie? T-rex? Pink Floyd? STIFF LITTLE FINGERS? I cannot BELIEVE that those were your first records. Methinks you lot all have a skeleton in the closet...

Yeah, that's more like it. good old PIB and MF.
Quiff Boy wrote:1)What was the first record you ever bought?

no idea - seem to remember coming across a copy of quo's "12 gold bars" in my dad's records and approriating it... mainly because i'd just got a record player and needed something to test it with. had the bloody thing for yars  :urff:
Does anyone actually believe QB's story about only playing that Status Quo record out of necessity?
Didn't think so.

1)What was the first record you ever bought?

"Tragic Kingdom" my No Doubt. I was 8 and they're from behind the Orange Curtain like myself (orange county, california, for those of you who aren't familiar with the term). That was before Gwen broke off. Damn fine album.

2)What was the first 'proper' band you ever got into?

Is No Doubt proper? If not No Doubt, the Billy Idol(Greatest Hits and Charmed Life)...and right after Billy came Bowie (Let's Dance).

3)Do you still listen to that band today?

I rarely listen to No Doubt anymore. Billy Idol and Bowie are nearly played everyday though!

1, Thompson Twins - We Are Detective

2, Thompson Twins!

3, Yeah occasionally... I think they're a much underated band from the 80s, especially the remixes and instrumentals. I've had people say "wow, what's this?" in the car, and they're all embarassed when I tell 'em

AC/DC - Highway To Hell

AC/DC (obviously), Genesis/Pete Gabriel, Metallica, Sisters.

To some degree. DC & Genesis - every now and then; the other two - lots.

Highway To Hell is still untouchable. :notworthy: :notworthy:

First record bought was Jimmy Jimmy by The Undertones

The first band that I could claim to be really into would be the Jam circa 1979, although I was only nine at the time. I would chip in with my older brother to buy all their albums from that point on, but due to my age I was never able to see them live.
The first band that I was into & able to see live, would be The Smiths in my early-mid teens.

Yes, I still listen to both bands now, although I never really got into Weller or Morrisseys solo careers.

<cough> first record I can remember being bought for me (though I think I asked for it) was Mull of Kintyre by Wings

First band I got into? The mighty

Image (AC/DC in case you didn't know)

From the mid 80's onwards my three favourite bands were most likely TSOM, EATB and JAMC.

Do I listen to them these days? Yes, all of them, lots.

...except Wings

That song featured in the most disturbing dream I've ever had. In the dream, I was at the wedding of a very boring middle-aged couple for some reason. The entertainment at the reception was Fran & Anna doing a slow striptease to Mull Of Kintyre :urff: :urff: :urff: I can't even begin to desribe to the non Scots here just who and how bad Fran & Anna were but the dream left me feeling ill for half the day. It didn't help that when I mentioned it to a colleague at work, he told me I was a pervert!

First Single: Boomtown Rats, I don't Like Mondays
First Album: Blondie Parallel Lines
...both bought on the week of original release

First Band: Genesis, in a big way!

Still listen as much as I can (I'm obviously on about the older intersting stuff rather than the later tripe).
