I don't post much, due to a real fear of offending/upseting someone.I've found myself deleting posts for the same reason. But I suppose the main reason is I don't want to come across as being as thick as s**t.

When I started to post I didn't even know what weeding is. OMG

I remember posting something along the lines of "What? How can you people trade these few songs back and forth. They're always the same."

....just good that the Big Heartland Crash washed it all away. :innocent:

People are strange. 8)
I joined over a year before I started posting. I wasn't technically lurking cos I didn't bother actually looking. I just couldn't get used to the amount of time needed to browse the forum and then kind of forgot it existed.

I also did my fair share of sending freebie weeds to newbies as a 'welcome', I think Jess, for one can confirm this to be true.

I also thought this thread was about Fulham's finest

Oh yes! :notworthy: I was a bit shocked though to find such an amount of friendliness and trust on the net. I can't thank you enough for that, James. It was probably the reason I stayed. :D

so as regulars a lot of us have lurked at some time or other-why the hidden thing? why hide your online status unless you're eldritch in which case an obvious alter-ego will fool all the people who cant work it out (which is a good job 'cause the inner-circle don't stand up well to being put on the spot by those who have )

I usually have a look to see what's been going on before I log, I don't view that as "Lurking", just to lazy to log in everytime I just want a quick keek, or only have a couple of minutes to spare.

in fact as far as i can seethe only reason for hiding your online status instead of logging in/out -which is actually simpler as you have to log in & change your profile to be hidden- is so that the bored amongst us can look at the statistics page and work out who is "hidden" and then presumably think "ooh-how mysteriously gothic;what an enigma" or as i often do "what an attention seeking goth/dodgy knobwand".

I will freely admit that I do it sometimes. Sometimes I just want to log-on, read my PMs and avoid the 'PM Pouncers' who appear from nowhere once they see you're online. Read begging letters. Neither do I wish to receive unsolicited PMs and log-off without responding to the senders as that appears rude and offensive.

I usually live in the murky, seedy world of PMland, so if I have asked someone (within that enviroment) to marry me or threatened to burn down their house it's nice to know in advance, without previously mentioned distractions, before I hit the board.

Plus, if I've had cyber sex with Buxy previously I usually need to take a shower before I can post again. :von:
