I lost a friend because they were killed by someone, and I don't support the death penalty. Please don't make that baseless presumption that everyone who has lost someone in this way 'obviously' wants the criminal to be executed because it's totally wrong.indy wrote:How can you not agree with the death penalty? Obviously you have never had any of your friends or family killed by someone. I have and lost way to way of my friends from someone snuffing out their lives. If you think that a life sentence in prison is like winning the lottery, then please prove it be commiting a crime and giving yourself up so you can be jailed and live this "life of luxury".indy wrote:A life sentence in prison is like winning the lottery. No, they don't.indy wrote:Many people get arrested and go to jail just because it's an easier life.

I am not saying that everyone that has lost someone wants the criminal to be executed. I am saying your views may change when it's someone close to you. Are you a father? Do you have a daughter or a son?lazarus corporation wrote:I lost a friend because they were killed by someone, and I don't support the death penalty. It's tempting to do this everyday and very soon I may do so.lazarus corporation wrote:If you think that a life sentence in prison is like winning the lottery, then please prove it be committing a crime and giving yourself up so you can be jailed and live this "life of luxury".indy wrote:A life sentence in prison is like winning the lottery. Done it yet? No? Didn't think so.
Yes they do. You have never gone hungry have you? I bet if you were starving and living on the streets you would give it some thought. It happens more than you think because sometimes life doesn't give you an alternative and it's either starve to death on the streets or a warm meal in prison. Ask a police officer they will tell you. It does happen.lazarus corporation wrote:No, they don't.indy wrote:Many peoPple get arrested and go to jail just because it's an easier life.
So what will you do with him? Life in prison. You know damn well that wherever he gets locked up at that there will be some supporters that will do whatever it takes to get him out.lazarus corporation wrote:Because we don't want to be like Saddam.indy wrote:He showed no mercy, why should we.
No, I'm not a father. But I've heard fathers whose sons or daughters have been murdered still speak out against the death penalty - like you said, it's a matter of opinion. There is no special insight gained by being in any particular relationship with a murder victim.indy wrote:I am not saying that everyone that has lost someone wants the criminal to be executed. It may happen but certainly not in the vast majority of cases.indy wrote:Yes they do. You have never gone hungry have you? I agree that what is important is what is best for the people of Iraq and that this whole mess can be sorted and let them get on with their lives, raise children, and get back to normal.indy wrote:So what will you do with him? Of course he may just sit and jail and make 'sad clown paintings' until he dies.
But besides all the bickering and differences what is important is what is best for the people of Iraq and that this whole mess can be sorted and let them get on with their lives, raise children, and get back to normal.
Correct me if I meringue, but I'm pretty damn sure he had at least one of his sons killed.DeWinter wrote:I actually felt some mild sympathy for him when pictures of his dead sons were being shown. That can't have been a pleasant experience. Guess now he knows how it feels..
Quite sure he did so as well, and if he didn't he was about to kill another one who then fled abroad (I think it was even the son first in line to succeed him) . A man without conscience is a dangerous man.James Blast wrote:Correct me if I meringue, but I'm pretty damn sure he had at least one of his sons killed.DeWinter wrote:I actually felt some mild sympathy for him when pictures of his dead sons were being shown. If I could try it out without the commitment and could just walk out if I didn't like it then I would be there. I have asked at a few jails if I could just try it but it's not allowed. There would also have to be a clause that I would only be the top person, no bottom for me. And on the bright side I would probably receive lots of oral sex and that I like the sound of ...nice. I will just close my eyes and pretend it's a chick and I guarantee that they wouldn't stop in the middle to cry and whine about how they don't like it.lazarus corporation wrote: With the greatest respect, I bet you won't.
Dont' know....I figured if you hadn't because it sounded like you haven't been there or had to dumpster dive in your life. My bad for assuming.lazarus corporation wrote:

Yupp. Iran, for example. Wait: Wasn´t there an occasional shooting at the Iran-Iraq border? Some hundred thousand killed? A classic example of peace policy. And we still sit in silent admirance for Saddam´s efforts in returning human rights to Kuwait. A real peace factor. Never mind his sadistic tendencies and his habit to execute opponents personaly. You have to understand that, he just likes playing with guns. And he had a difficult childhood, you know..a.r.kane wrote:Saddam spent 30 yrs keeping the waring factions of the middle east under control,

Seconded. They should have gotten rid of him the day the new Iraq republic was anounced. Nobody would have understood that better than Saddam, it´s been his own policy for decades.a.r.kane wrote:The whole trial and outcome is a f**king joke.
Not bloody likely. And what do you mind Kurds? A people that is denied it´s culture, language and country by Arab and Turkmen leaders needs to have it´s voice every now and then, I´d say. After all good ol´ Saddam p*ssed some of them off with Chemical Ali´s special perfume.a.r.kane wrote:He was tried in Iraq by Kurds and was refused permission to use Bush and Rumsfeld as defense witnesses - he would have requested Thatcher and Blair if they had had any awareness of what they have contributed to the state of things.
Which was another of Saddam´s attempts to make friends at europe as to weaken the threat the US-European coallition was placing at him. Another cheap trick by some blerk who wasn´t good enough at using smoke and mirrors to outwit others.a.r.kane wrote:Why was Iraq stormed? Because they chose to deal in petroeuros and not dollars.
Are you naive enough to believe that anybody who owns great amounts of money gives a fu*k what currency he counts them in? If memory serves, when Saddam's palace was raided, the forces find a solid gold AK47 assault riffle in amongst all his possessions. I don't know what is more sick: Saddam owning it or the bastards who built it for him. Would such a weapon be usable - and how many of his starving followers could have eaten with the proceeds of the scrap gold from this obscene weapon?eotunun wrote:You have to understand that, he just likes playing with guns.
