no, actually you are spot on. but it is also important how criticism gets worded. and I do understand why someone gets ticked off by the way it was done here. that was nothing short of budget.

Gosh, please stop it! In Russia we call this kind of "discussions" this way: "You argue about what a pig is carrying its tail on", something like this, I'm not too good at English to translate the saying :)
Really there are some miserable ones (like my humble self ;) ) who can't attend concerts during the current SOM tour, so we do appreciate every single video, or picture, or sound file! If somebody is unpleased, that's their problems and don't complain or criticize those who share, or they could stop sharing!

Well, just my two cents :)

@Martin: That's exactly the case, btw...your videos are among the better ones available and i do wish there were more of them/they were more complete

Apart from some minor points which are of no interest, i agree with most you said. How sweet, a discussion after which majority of participants agrees on the majority of points. Rare.

@sunshine: So people's opinions differ, i had fun with the discussion (without "s). i wouldn't be too worried about people stopping sharing, though...the day people stop spreading their own diseases (a reference to Nietzsche, the more well-read will know what i mean) is the day i'll have faith in humanity and i don't see that happening....... ;)

@itnAklipse

Fair enough. Let's pretend you sang "I Want More".

I think you were rude and I know I was rude. OK? We can move on now. :D

A bit of information now to let everybody know that what is shared here may require a lot of work and time. I'm exporting Part III for Vimeo.com, as suggested by dummkpof. Remaining time for the compression: 117 minutes.

Thanks for these Martin

Excellent quality & I for one do like how you've shown parts of songs, it's nice to see a cross section of the gig.

Thanks again

It's really weird how fan video's communicate. You recognize the 'laugh' of ben (close on YouTube) on yours.

OK, here's the deal.

You'll be able to download HD MP4 source files of my three montages here: http://www.vimeo.com/beaudinlecours

There's a grey button at the right, near the bottom of the page. You'll see the file size: more than 200 Mo for each one.

But I have a free account there, so I can only upload one HD file per week. Be patient and in 3 weeks you'll get every part.

Remember that it comes from a cool french guy of Montreal, a nice town of this sweet but cold part of America called Quebec, now a province of Canada, maybe a real country some day.

Cheers

Video...

Just keep in mind that it took 26 years for Von to come and play a show in France, I don't want to imagine how long will it take him to play again in a "new French country"... :innocent:

I didn't know. Well, you have to register before you can download!

I've heard of this anti-French myth about Eldritch. But he studied and speaks french. And what about all those songs with french girl names: "Alice", "Marian", "Suzanne"... I really dont believe he would refuse to come visit this "new french country", but if it was the case... J'en aurais rien à foutre!

There was something I remember reading where :von: said the original idea for the cover for Floodland was a map of Europe with France missing.

Personally I'm not fond of (apparently) unthinking anti-France rhetoric; it smacks a little too much of xenophobia.

Can anyone recommend free software for dowloading/capturing video from youtube or vimeo for MacOSX? I have it in mind to marry up some good video with good audio and post it somewhere for everyone, but I need to get the videos into QTs.

Thanks in advance.

There is a link in this post in the sharing section. I haven't used it myself though.

Anything similar for Mac OSX that anyone knows about?
It's really easy now to download YouTube files on OSX as on Windows. Use Firefox as your browser, add it the "Video DownloadHelper" extension and here you go: https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/3006

After that, you need a player cause Quicktime can't read FLV files. VLC Player can do the job: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html

The question is: is it really necessary?
For converting it to Quicktime, it's another story. Anyway, the result won't and can't be better than the FLV source files you'll have downloaded. You can't can get quality from crap, it's the very basic principle of multimedia creation.

For getting my videos on Vimeo, you'd better subscribe (for free) and download the MP4 source file as mentionned before.

But, by the way, I don't really like the idea of my videos getting another soundtrack. I've mixed the soundtrack myself and I like it that way.
