The choices made (all of the above) make for an interesting read. Glad to note that the Sisters were not "a singles band" for the majority here. Perhaps the wider public tell a different story.

well, this seems just a bit difficult, but here it goes:

1.Crash And Burn (cause I know a few of those "married to a soldier" types)

2.Marian(Version) or the high guitar frenzy of Furth 2003, cause of the reference to Eldritch's Poetic influence, T.S.Eliot. whose sisters' name was Marian, do your research ppl.

3.Some Kind Of Stranger (cause of all the references to Cohen's "Stranger Songer")

4.1959, because it's so damned personal and simple and complex

5.We Are The Same, Susanne:perfect example of de-constructionist, Wittgenstein influenced lyrics, it seems so simple but is one of the most complex songs.

6.Ribbons... i think we all know what it's like to tell her about marx and engels and later not really no what for...

7.Nine While Nine/Driven Like The Snow: since Eldritch admitted that the latter is like a sequel to the former i put them together, these are very emotional with great imagery...

8.Summer: because it sounds great on any recording I've heard and the bass line is deep as any D+B song, while the riffs are straight up metal, and the whole thing was enginered to sound like a train, the cymbals, the bass line, the synth line, and the lyrics are more of that paradoxical symple on the surface yet complicated as hell underneath stuff...

9.Slept: I love the rant at the end about all the girls...
some boys can relate by mistake....
and the second last line is: "...and girls who knew the sailor's creed with a third degree of jealousy...", trust me...

10.Under The Gun: The lyrics, the female duet thing, the poem at the end, the Metropolis Mix, the production, and the fact that Adam Pearson can at least be heard on this Studio Recorded Single if none other...

there, hope you like my reasons, i believe it's more fun to read the reasons why ppl. like what they like than to just read some list of songs...

Oh no, the bass machine thing... I was referring to someone's description earlier in the thread of the Sisters Dear Departed Bassists as no more than 'machines'.

Well, just coz everyone else is doing it...:

1. Under The Gun - great production, s**t from a great height on the original Berlin track.
2. Lights (Floorshow EP version) - Very sparce, much better than the Reptile House version.
3. More (extended) - A powerhouse of a song
4. Nine While Nine - The song of choice for Sisters compilations for the car.
5. Emma (31-10-84) - My favourite version (also the first version I heard of it)
6. Romeo Down - A simple song, but very effective I think
7. Flood II - Coz it's a fantasic song
8. Lucretia - That bass line...
9. Alice 1993 - again for the production, all those little "extra" noises going on in it. Just wish they'd played it the same as the original.
10. Watch - The lyrics may not be great, but the music rocks.

And so many more that I didn't mention...

1. Under The Gun (the second half is the best)
2. More (such a powerfull song, and i like the piano bits)
3. Romeo Down (dark powerfull and brooding)
4. Summer (great lyrics, great music, wanna hear a studio version)

Amphetamine Logic. Sometimes i feel like dying when i hear a strong live version of this. It's a combination of lyrics, Andrew's performance, beat, and the melody. It just always makes me gasp for air when i'm paying attention. And it's the only Sisters song i've ever danced to when not in actual concert.
Now that i think of it, this song made me become a Sisters fan.

again and on summer camp. At night we were playing those songs over
and over again. Sounded very exciting and dangerous to us.

5. Driven like the snow: so fragile!

6. Never land: The real beauty of this one slammed me right into the face
while listening to the soundcheck in Amsterdam. Pure!

7. Ribbons: sounds so damn s**y (not silly)

8. Crash and burn: Grabs you by the throat like a machine gun.

Cry little sister is my favouritest

I always thought Marian was about some german mermaid(Siren)who lured sailors to their deaths.If it only a love song I shall be very disapointed and disillusioned.
