Mrs RJ has a point. I've heard a couple of good Beatles tracks, but nothing I'd rave about, same with the Stones.
The Velvet Underground could wipe the floor with both of them, even with the Loaded album (about 30 tracks of brilliance, full of outtakes, and all better than the Stones easily)

As for Elvis, I'd rather listen to feedback.

You're all mad and I'm right.
As usual. :von:

heathens

i've re-thought my stance anyway.

i've opted for pity rather than banning. you are missing out on so much already that it would be a shame to deprive you of one of the few worthy sensory delights you have left

Good one, Ems. :)

Thanks for the pity, Boss. And get on SoulSeek too, I can send you one of my new songs. :)

Oh, where to start...

Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot...

All the EMO bands can f**k off till they grow some balls...

I know it's not really "band" music, but all gangsta rap and R'n'B...

Give me time, I'll think of some more.

Embrace, the Libertines...

Yes, Genesis (sorry Blast!) - total wank.

Posted: 12 Apr 2005, 17:16
by boudicca
Oh, right about Nine Inch Nails....

Good Charlotte. Evanescence...

...basically all these bands that are making their fortune appealing to the pathetic self-pity of over-privileged American teenagers.

It's worrying that I've had to explain to three different people that 'comfortably numb' is a cover version!
Believe me, it's worse having to explain to a deranged teenager that "This Corrosion" isn't originally by In Extremo....

*Sigh* My rant would be too long for this forum.
But every now and then I'm relieved to know there are some like-minded people here. :notworthy:

there are some similarities... Both use classical and metal elements. However, Nightwish is more modern... LAcrimosa... classier!

This sudden wave of bands all beginning with 'The...' and are all the bastard progeny of Franz Ferdinand.

My opinions on The Darkness are well known - however, to avoid being mobbed by the Warrior Women of The Internet, I'll refrain from commenting.

Maroon 5, total 80s funky s**t dressed up as indie. For couples who are buying their first flat and have a car each. Awful.

All you have said is very true, I'm sure. I don't object to any of that, I DO object to shrill-voiced male whores raping an eminent if slightly amusing ex-culture to feed the charts. I dislike this new glam sound, I dislike Hawking as a person. It is only an opinion though, and I note that some people here dislike Garbage and the Scissor Sisters, to which they are entirely entitled.
big si wrote:p.s. @mr sinister - i'll have my u-boats waiting for you just off the Hull coast!
Interestingly, this festering necropolis doesn't have a coast, we sit nearly eighty miles from the edge of the East Riding, occupying a bend in the River Hull. However, due to some sneaky paperwork by Yorkshire Water, the river was declared part of the North Sea and therefore...eligible to dump waste in.
Ask your captains if they fancy sailing up a stream full of human waste and industrial effluent.

VERY well put! Takes the term easy listening and turns it into something you find dead after a week at the bottom of a pond.
