Emily. Strange demo track question.

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Does anyone know anything about this track that I found recently, entitled as follows;

sisters of mercy- Emily (rare demo 85-Hussey and guest vocalist)

It certainly sounds like a Hussey vocal and a drum machine.

The first verse starts;

"Lost in a state of confusion, lost without a...(I can't make it out, possibly word)
Say that it's an illusion, something I heard"

and the chorus is;

"Can you hear me Emily?
Can you hear me Emily?"

both of which sound very m*****n(ish) to me.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for sharing. I have no idea where it's from, and I honestly find it quite weak. Where did you find it ? Are you sure it's not a m*****n demo ?

Interesting stuff. Where did you find it?

It's definitely in the style of FALAA-era Sisters guitar work, if nothing else. The vocals and drum beat are a bit crap though - I'm guessing Von had no input to the Doktor. The lyrics are Hussey or someone similar - not Marx or Eldritch, that's for sure.

Thanks for putting it online :notworthy:

Sounds quite odd indeed, Sisters-style of that era, and lyrically it seems like he tried to write it like :von: would have.

Didn't succeed too well though, IMHO :lol:

Not as far as I know, I've not seen it listed in any collection of rarities, or as a commonly mistaken non-Sisters track like "Cry Little Sister".

I thought I'd not seen any mention of it anywhere.

I'm not sure what it is. It could easily be a m*****n demo, but it came with the above filename.

not heard the mp3 but the description doesnt sound familiar as a sisters demo, and at this late stage i doubt there are (m)any more unknown gems out there... :?

probably an early mish demo. maybe a mish fan (karst, taylor, rob keys, etc) might have a better idea?

maybe try posting it on rob's "wasteland" mish forum :?:

It's not Hussey singing so I'd say there's no connection apart from some goffs desperate to sound like their heroes. :roll: :lol:
