And we thought we were used to seeing the Sisters get slaughtered by the press. Now THIS review is what I would call negative. Reminds me of some mails I deleted early this morning...

Says about all, no further need to comment

The knives were out before she even saw the show, I bet. "Oh God, The Sisters of Mercy are still touring." Nice that someone in NYC bothered to even review the show (zero promotion, hardly a word in the papers), but of course, we get some ex-***h, blah blah blah.

'Reunion tour'.

Ben and Chris and Andrew, reunited again.

You know, it just occurred to me that Ben and Chris are younger than The Sisters.... How strange.

look at it this way... led zeppelin had reviews like this and even worse.. and look now!! all the critics praise them now. with over 100 million in sales in the u.s alone without videos, singles, airplay and any t.v. appearance in the u.s. so who has the last laugh. andrew plays for his fans!!!! just like led zeppelin did!!

You sure ? I believe Ben's 26. How old is Chris ?

Critics used to blast Queen big time. OMG that was bloody violent. Mind you, they'd had the guts to say they didn't care about the press. :innocent:

i guess that's why zeppelin never talked to the press. there was no need to because they will say what ever they want to no matter what you say. mabe andrew feels the same way!!! like robert plant once said critics are people who can't get hard ons. in her case you can insert your own joke!

Ouch! Very harsh! But what can one expect from the paper that brought us Sex and the City?!

I may just have to use that Send a Letter to the editor option....

lol

It's funny how close that tracks the ex-goth reviews in Dominion and on here. Nine While Nine my sainted rear end. Great song but there are decent reasons not to play it live. Reasons like "It would sound silly with a bunch of distortion."

I wonder if she thought Ben was Gary Marx under all the hair.

The difference being that Queen really DID suck. Jokes invited...

As much as I LOVE the sisters and think the article was harsh I have to disagree with the above statement as :von: s attitude usually seems to suggest he doesn't really do anything for his fans...he has his own reasons....bless him!

Fans complain => "Eldritch does what he feels like doing and doesn't care"
Press complains => "Eldritch only cares about his fans"

Besides, she came off as a fan - a disppointed fan, but a fan nevertheless - well-placed "More" quotation and all. Her using the term "reunion" doesn't nullify the rest of her opinions, methinks, as the tour has all the makings of a reunion tour. Any journalist failing to spell "soul-baring" correctly should be flogged, however.

Crash course in logical fallacies:

1. "The Village Voice are gave us Sex in the City, hence their review of the Sisters gig is necessarily bad" is an ad hominem attack.

2. "Led Zeppelin were lambasted in the press yet became immensely popular, hence The Sisters will become immensely popular since they're lambasted in the press" is a post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy.

Wow, all that and lesson in Latin and Logic too. I had no idea this thread was complex.

How do you say Kiss Ones Arse in Latin?

Like what ?

So ? It's just cheap talk.
2. "Led Zeppelin were lambasted in the press yet became immensely popular, hence The Sisters will become immensely popular since they're lambasted in the press" is a post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy.
Nope : the press used to hate the Zep, ans yet they're now considered one of the best rock acts of all times. Slightly different. :innocent:
Don't always listen to the press, that's the lesson.

So true. Also applies to Queen. :innocent:

We suggest: Osculare anum meum.

With a macron over the 'a' of osculare.

Mind you, our declension of the imperative may be suspect, if memory has failed us with regard to the conjugation of "to kiss," but it's likely better than anything you'll find on the web... the nicer parts of it, anyway.

And the tangent kept a-rollin' on...

Is this the sole newspaper review to surface, btw?

I've just had an image of Ben and Chris in a hotel room and hearing Alice on the radio - fetching Von and then hearing the immortal line. That's the equivelant of reading that review. :!:
