besides the Sisters Of Mercy, which other band(s)...

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

... which other bands have you travelled (would you travel) to see on tour?

Over the last 10 years, I have travelled all around Europe (and even flew to America) for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and all around Europe for Einstürzende Neubauten
More recently travelled in Europe & North America / Canada for Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Actually, none. ;D
Not even the Girls in fact. Mainly because I've never had the cash, which means in fact I've never spent all my money on just one band. There's just too much good music around IMHO. But I do understand those who choose to do so. 8)
The only thing of that sort I've ever done was come back from Oxford to Paris to see Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band at the Stade de France in 2003. :D
Which was not a big deal after all, I admit. These days I could go quite a long way to see the mighty Donnas on stage.

As I'm sure you already knew. :innocent:

I went half way down the country to see The Eels, but only because we were too late for Manchester (which in itself isn't the closest place to home).

Furthest I've been is Germany to see The Cure. But total miles travelled, I've probably been much further (and to far stranger places) to see the Bleeding Hearts.

Sisters in Paris was the most far off gig I've ever been to, normally I just go to Antwerp gigs (preferably the ones I get freebie tickets to ). I'd like to try to follow the Kills around a bit though :D

Shriekback would've been an option too, but that'd be the Shriekback of my toddler days

Went to Germany a couple of years ago to see 2 gigs with The Chameleons.

Today I wouldn't travel to see a band. I'm to lazy.

SISTERS over the years Holland, Germany, Belgium and the USA
Mega City 4 France, Belgium, Holland, Germany & Switzerland
Janes Addiction USA
Siouxsie USA
Feeder Holland (wife likes them)
Skinny Puppy Holland

I did book flights to see the SISTERS in Japan but they got cancelled and would consider South America but need more than six weeks notice!

Second shout for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds here.

I went to see Maiden in France, but that was also because a) a friend asked me to go with him for company and b) because the Belgian gig was sold out.

For the very same reason I saw Maiden in Holland, too.

Went to Germany a couple of times (Mera Luna and stuff) because the Sisters gigged there, but always on festivals, so there were other bands I was interested in also. I would never go to a standalone Sisters gig in a foreign country, I think, or it has to be somewhere in the south of Holland...

Ah well, now here's a touchy subject - I must NEVER be allowed to go and see bands abroad. Reasons?

1) Chameleons - Athens. Now THERE'S a story
2) Pixies - Lollapalooza. Now there's ANOTHER story

If anyone has any particular band they would love to break-up, or a festival they would love to be pulled, just get me to book tickets...

Did the end of the 2003 m*****n tour in Madrid and Barcelona. (Blame that for Edmund) Fantastic, Madrid is by far the best Mish gig I've been to.

Gigs on the continent seem to have a much more positive atmosphere. It's easy to see why English band like playing over there, and why some don't often come back

I don't get travelling around just to see a band... it appeals to me for the sake of the travel in itself, the fact that you get some rock'n'roll every night into the bargain is just a great excuse to do it!

However, when it's travelling within the UK, then it's about the people 8) .

The Merry Thoughts in a *cough* "Goff Club" In Derby, some time in 1997

Marilyn Manson in the Forum, London on 12th December 1997 (it was/is also my birthday!)

Once spent £410.00 on a taxi from Cardiff to Birmingham NEC and back to see The Sisters in June 92. Now that was an experience ;-)

Would travel anywhere in UK / Europe to see Leonard Cohen.

Would also consider travelling some distance to see The Nephilim

Buy tickets for Westlife in Lincoln, Ness. ;)

Actually, my mum wanted to go there. I'm not going to stop her from saying she wants to go. About a month ago, she mentioned she wanted to go see Gene Pitney..

Never have, and I wouldn't just for the gig. I might choose to time a trip to somewhere at the same time there was a gig on I fancied but it would have to be someone I'd kept missing seeing for years or something like that.

Most people play London sooner or later.

I do realise from some people's perspective I'm probably missing the point here, but I've got other things to spend spare money on.
