Well we won but Greece were pretty poor opponents and bear in mind they didn't even qualify for the World Cup. They seem to have fallen a long way since winning Euro 2004

Granted, but the way England played was a transformation, there was an understanding between the player, hells bells, even Crouch looked decent
, they seemed to play as a
team rather than a collective of egos, can dropping Mr Posh Spice have been the catalyst for the performance?

I agree, England did play more as a team, especially at the back (probably down to the new captain). I'm pretty certain that Becks was dropped more because of his ego/influence over the players/manager in the dressing room rather than his ability on the pitch. Granted, he's not the player he was a couple of years ago but I wouldn't say England are a better team with Gerrard on the right instead Becks.
I would think it's obvious to most fans that the future lies with two fast wingers, Richardson on the left, Lennon down the right with Hargreaves in the middle (assuming he keeps his form). The decision McClaren needs to make is who to drop, Gerrard or Lampard? Unfortunately I think he'll keep taking the easy option with Gerrard on the right and Lennon on the bench..or heaven forbid..all five across the middle and Rooney on his own up front...and we know what happens then

Didn't see the game. I watched Ireland - Holland (0-4)

Much better without Mr Ego (who I bet secretly hoped they would lose to show how special and irreplaceable he is) - same goes for the spud-faced nipper who must think that any team he is not part of will lose.

I would say it's more part of our Media's attitude and their pathetic obsession with singling out one individual for the role of hero/scapegoat, doesn't matter which sport it is...Football>Rooney, Cricket>Flintoff, Rugby>Wilkinson. Just look at how overhyped the situation was before the WC, that was them milking it purely to boost sales/viewer ratings.

Spot-on, but try telling that to the f*wits that make up the greater part of our population. On second thoughts, save yer breath.
EDIT : Though I very much like the term 'spud-faced nipper'. One of the politer terms, if truth be known.
Any match, at any level, who'd you rather have up front. Highly-strung Spud-boy or that new-born giraffe?

You know you're a geek when you start mentally listing the psychology articles you've read trying desperately to remember what the "Mu Psyche" is.
I need to return to my football following ways and rid myself of these symptoms

And what REALLY depresses me is if Hargreaves joins Man U, then a future England side could have Ferdinand, Neville, Scholes, Carrick, Smith, Hargreaves and Rooney in the starting line up....

They might just win something for a change.
Then you'll have to applaud all the Reds, much like the Beckham / Greece match of yesteryear. Ho ho ho.
