any other reason NOT to record album?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I know that Andrew was under contract and had a bit of trouble with his company for a bit but once out of that it seems the only reason that an album has not been done is that no company offered the amount he wanted. Anyway, are there any other details that have added to this or is the only reason a 'money issue'?

After so much time, it would seem some money is better than none and what's it worth to starve part of your creative process anyway....

It seems an album is not practical to expect ever again but really, I'm not understanding the reason behind that.

Von just couldn't bother his arse. That's about it, by this time.

Oh well, lotsa other great bands out there.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Not sure he's actually starving. The man must have other resources.

I just meant the musical resource of releasing an album and how that is one part of the emotional release as an artist. I know from playing that recording material gives a sense of accomplishment etc.... Seems odd not to want to do that if you have an interest in music. Maybe the interest in music over all is not there anymore, the flame is gone etc... a few tours here and there for cash grabs and that's it...just specualtion of course.

Perhaps he's afraid to release new material. After 15 years of not releasing anything I can imagine he's anxious to bring out a record that isn't half as good as the first three albums.

Bot on the other hand: he doesn't give a s**t

I'm sure there was mutterings from certain horses mouths during the last round of gigs that they were supposed to be going into the studio.
I presume those certain horses got fed up waiting and fecked off to join Cleethorpes Troupe etc..... :?

Ben and Chris are young guns, aren't they ? They probably don't want to just sit around, doing nothing but bitching about the music industry and how it feeds on your very soul (which is true, btw). I can understand that.
Bottom line : the old man is accountable. And it pains me to say that, as regards records, he failed. :|

Unless, Eric, he is currently writing the musical equivalant of Ernest Scribblers masterpiece which will be the end of all musical forms, wars, disputes and religion.....15 years of heart ache and folical reducing genius....All of mankind will simply cease to be aware of any other entity - only the new Sisters album will be of significance, the centre of the Universe. A sun god for all to worship.....

Nah - You're probably right. :?

It's a natural reaction, unfortunately. The Sisters mean so much to me, yet it's hard not to be pessimistic when you think about the band's - lack of - future. :(

Better to do nothing than a mediocre product. The man has shown already he can do it. He's got nothing left to prove.

Not that I wouldn't like to see another album but I'd very much prefer he'd do it because he feels like he's got something original to contribute, rather than because something is expected of him.

so next problem is: if he's really shown that he's so talented - and i'm not saying that isn't - why he didn't left the stage ? ( of course besides the $$$)

a mean come on, in one of review - probably after the cracow's gig- some of us had wrote that he had a little chat with Ben, and he'd said that
:von: and mr. May wrote few songs, so where are them ? vanished ?
why he didn't put these "new"-new songs on the setlist ? if he's doing this -touring - for fun and these sadistic pleasure of oppressing his fan, why ?

yes i know that it's just other way to express sadness about the band

i suggest that he's still have a little of hope that someone will sign the contract with him, and just saving these songs for...

in the other hand getting that young lamb in the band it's in a commercial way.

I think someone here made a really valid point; by now we all assume (and for good reason) that The Sisters is merely a cash cow for Von, the Saturday Night Job. He doesn´t have the "passion" or the "commitment" it would take to actually get an album out there.

But then why the hell does he bother to write and perform new songs live? The "cash cow" would probably be even more prosperous if he simply "gave people what they wanted"; a Greatest Hits-set.
The dominant need of the needy soul is to be needed.

He's taking the p*ss folks, you know it. And to hammer home the point to those who didn't, he wrote Still. :|

I don't like the new songs (saving "We Are The Same Susanne"). We can't pay 30 euros for a nebulous and depressing show that has got reason to be only for the money and the payment of the bill.
