Body Electric cover art ?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Yes - that is indeed by the painter Francis Bacon. The original painting (before a bit of Von magic  ) is used as Head VI I believe.

Clicky

As you will note from other early single covers, Eldritch is very fond of taking a 'masterpiece' and changing the colour scheme etc....

You're welcome :D

It's by the same artist, Bacon. I think it's one of is Studies After Velasquez, or something along those lines. It's a portrait series of various popes, if I remember correctly.

For me this is the nicest sleeve of the sisters together with Body and soul... They used single colours these early days; red (BE), blue (body and soul), green (temple) and later on yellow (under the gun).... Nice!
Was it Alice or our daughter Ellice???

Whats on the cover of your Stairway to Heaven boot? Is it a 7" - mine is white with some figures on it IIRC.

alice is a matisse; body and soul an illustration from dante's inferno; and the reptile house is supposed to be ripped off from an alice cooper album sleeve. TOL cover is the best for simplicity, effect, and colour scheme IMO.

You may be interested to know that the Divine Comedy woodcuts are public domain, and you can download your own copy of them from Project Gutenberg: http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/d#a1896 ;)
