For you to give feedback to the Heartland moderators. Wish lists, fault reports, etc. You may get an answer, you may not. As in all things, it largely depends on how nicely you ask the people in charge... You're welcome.

Been noticing this for a while now - when loading HL I often see my browser getting in touch with google analytics. Is this something to do with my browser being spied on or the site itself?

Just seemed odd to me as there's no google bits on site I can see :)

It's just traffic-tracking software that QB's using - it's totally legit and harmless.

yup, what he says ^ 8)

http://www.google.com/analytics/ will explain in more detail, but essentially its a stats package that shows me how many people view HL, where they came from if it was a search engine, what they might have searched for in order to find us, and some other groovy and useful bits of info :)

if you run a website, its an invaluable resource! 8)

i have toyed with the idea of making the stats publicly available too, so you can all have a look. some of them are really rather impressive!

So would it benfit Heartland if I allowed their Java scripting every now and then?

yes and no, i guess

it wouldnt really benefit heartland as such, but it would mean i would get a more accurate picture of who visits the site, where from, and what they do while here.

cant see me using that info for anything more than satisfying my curiosity though

its entirely up to you tbh. i'd understand completely if you wanted to block them for whatever reason :)

righto. here you go, but there are one or two caveats to this: 8)

this is on the basis that no-one abuses the account settings.

having a google stats account means that you also get the option of using several other google-provided services

the SECOND i see any evidence (however incidental) of this service being abused, i will remove all permissions from that email address and delete the account.

just to re-iterate: this data is provided on a trust basis. i'm potentially leaving myself open to spam etc here, so please - PLAY NICE!

I guess that would be wise. Or make the Feedback forum a registered-users only area.
After all, what happens behind these castle walls is of little significance to the passers by who simply seek for infos on the Sisters or what the enlightened few unerstand in their lyrics.
Or what we have been eating.

Post a jpeg with the info once in awhile maybe?

Also, if it involves a security risk why making it public indeed?

To be honest, I didn't even look at the stats ;)

I know this is all based on trust, but when you see how many regulars are posting here once a day and then see the total of members... well YOU got the analytics, you should know  All the 'lurkers' and non-regulars, hell, even the regulars might abuse it.

2629 possibe abusers at the mo.

Is it worth it? :?:

Doh! I was too slow to notice you'd briefly made this available to us ... Shame :|

Couldn't you PM us pretty please , I've seen this data before for other sites, and it is really interesting for those of us who like statistics ... ? :notworthy: :innocent:
