I have Temple Of Love 12" on Braineater records, the Dominion boxset and When You Don't See Me 12", but I think that is about as rare as I go. I have all the normal Limited Editions as well (Doctor Jeep, Temple 92 and UTG) as well as pretty much everything else bar the first 2 singles (pretty much like 99% of all other Sisters collectors!)

I've seen that patch before. I have a feeling a friend of mine has one kicking about. I think I know the patch you are thinking of. Haven't seen one for a long time.
Sorry about the confusion btw, it's not you I traded with on Souldseek it was someone else with a similar name. My mind isn't as sharp as it used to be!

Hold on...
I just need a clarification. The WYDSM 12" came with ltd. edition patches? I know that it came with the patch shown on PiB's avatar, but are you saying it also came with place-specific patches? I've seen it sold on eBay with the "Gegen Nazis" patch, but passed on bidding because I assumed it was the wrong patch. To put the question simply: can anyone say how many different versions of the patch came with the WYDSM 12", what the versions were, and how many were made/sold of each? Very curious...
Thanks, Otto von

It did, although I didn't get one at the time. There were a handful that didn't come with the patch. Can't remember where I got mine. My teenage years are all hazy recollection!

Not sure how rare these are but I have 7" Portugese imports of both Damage Done and Good Things both recorded in 81 although not sure when they were released. I also have a strawberry coloured instrumental 7" of Black Planet. A Poison Door 7" release of F&L&A and Marian, again not sure how rare. Then everything else is quite easy to get hold of
Love Lost, Fire at Will, Dum Dum Bullets and Shoot to Kill
Mine didn't But Andrew J Pinnel sent me a rather nice heartland badge along with the booksY wrote:The WYDSM limited edition 12" only came with one type of patch (PIB's avatar).

South African pressings of ASCOOB, VT and Floodland.
Are those rare?
Are those rare?
The South African CDs are not 'rare' because they are still distributed. However, they are hard to find if you are not living in South Africa!hallucienate wrote:South African pressings of ASCOOB, VT and Floodland.

We can see the CDs on the manufacturer's site:
http://www.gallo.co.za/default.htm (search for Sisters of Mercy).
You can also buy the CDs at:
http://www.musica.co.za
Only Floodland, Vision Thing and A Slight Case of Overbombing exist on South African CD.
The rare South African release is 'This Corrosion' 7"!
Hope it helps

This Corrosion box set (5000 copies made). Not that rare but....
This Corrosion CD (between 500-750 made, anyone know the exact figure?)
Each shop was only given 20 box sets and 3 cd's. In Leeds only 3 shops got some.
In Jumbo when I bought the box set I asked about the cd but was told they didn't have any available.
In HMV the staff had bought all 3 cd's.
In Virgin the staff had bought 2 and put one on sale but it'd already been sold.
I went back to Jumbo and asked again about the cd, 2 of the staff had a quiet conversation with each other and then came back and decided to sell me a cd!
There's also a German version which came out not long after which isn't rare as they made loads. There's differences on the sleeve so you can tell them apart.
Also, one thing I know exists but haven't got, but I'll mention it here as I've never seen anyone ever mention it, is the This Corrosion t-shirt. It even has its own record number MR39TS.
Body And Soul (German. white sleeve) Is this rare??
Baktabak 12" picture disc, and also the same interview on 4 x 7" pic discs (probably the rarer of the two?)
I also have a 7" pic disc with half of the Baktabak interview on it.
Doctor Jeep 12" with poster (again I have no idea if this is rare)
When You Don't See Me 12" (with patch) My patch isn't either of the two aforementioned ones, mine has the Sisters head & star with Merciful Release written across it and "The Sisters Of Mercy 1991" around the edge.
Under The Gun 12" with poster (is this rare?)
I don't go in for collecting all the bootleg vinyl. As long as I have a recording of the gig that'll do me, and I couldn't give a toss about owning the same bootleg on black, red, multicolored vinyl, etc. That's just silly.
One bootleg I have which I'm told is rare is the 7" with Red Skies Disappear on one side and Marian (instrumental) on the other. It was such a bad pressing most of them were destroyed, so those that survive are rare, or so I'm told.
Also I'm told some of my recordings of gigs are rare, although I don't list them as rare as they weren't hard to get (or I had them for years). That's why I think the whole "rare" thing is a bit foolish. For example I wouldn't class ANY of the 1985 gigs as rare, but I see other people list one or two of them as rare. I suppose it depends how difficult to is personally for you to get the gig. If it was difficult to obtain you'll list it as rare, whereas someone else won't. A good example being the demos of 1969/Good Things/Alice which turned up as tracks 3,9 & 4 of Kenny Giles, which I've been giving away for years to anyone who wanted it.
