London, Forum 12th and 13th Febuary 1998

A question or two ...

Visions at the Forum is obviously a bootleg of the second Event Horizon gig in London on Feb, 12.

However, there seems to be another bootleg called Friday the 13th ... ... Any information about this?

Furthermore, it is said that audio recordings and an
audience shot film exist for Thursday, 12 February 1998 ...
But these - again - are no official bootlegs, are they?

Thanks in advance for any enlightenments ...

yeah, video exist for both night but second is incomplete (missing first two tracks and intro). for my knowledge "friday the 13th" is the different source recording that "visions at the forum" (more complete but alsow missing 2 tracks), someone even said that is sbd recording (i don't know, still waiting for it), but for me is not "silver-official" bootleg but cd-r.

Could you please give a defination of a official bootleg?

- Silver cd? - Vinyl? - CDR? DVDR? Tape?

Isn´t there a difference from bootleg and recorded things?

Well, I don´t know, but not every tape or CDR is a bootleg for me...

Maybe it´s just me...

Well I think that Being645 with "official bootlegs" means records that are not homemade, ie pressed and released by some form of a company.

Hi, 17.auflage, it's surely not just you ... :)... I had, in fact, hoped to get a definition as such from the initiated ... ...

We all know where to get a vast variety of shows from,
but that doesn't mean that there were bootlegs of these recordings with ...

a) a good or professional quality recording on
b] quality recording media with
c) a title and
d) some artwork, accordingly ...

or that they were
e) circulating in more or less official marketplaces like ebay

Although, I think the later point has become somewhat negligible, since for example the Wiki counts
exactly 8 !!! live bootlegs for the years from 2000 to 2009. But I know there are great DVDs and
recordings from the current decade like all the following (and probably many more] ...

So are these all bootlegs or not???   ... if so, I shall add them to the bootlegs list in the wiki

For me a bootleg is a record that is professionally pressed and released, such as Palazzograssi and Kiss The Stone releases.

Of course the recordings of concerts made by fans are also bootlegs, but they are more listed in my head as live recordings.

That's why I had such a hard time with the bootleg section with all these homemade covers (and I'm sure that there is some in my bootleg list) :(

Of course that brings up the questions of all those homemade pressings and releases that comes up every now and then...

I'm sure that someone here is able to explain and sort this out, properly.

ok, most of them are recordings in good or better or less quality.

Some apeared in silver pressed form.

I also have some tapes with obscure names...
but...I never woild call this a bootleg. Sorry. If yo would count this, I will send you al ist with 278 different titles for 123 tapes...
:-)

but: I don´t know when a bootleg is a bootleg...

For me,a bootleg is a recording of a band, usually live, but not always, that has been released in any form without the permission of the band/record label.None of the price of the tape/video/cd/dvd goes to the band.
When I first started buying Sisters bootlegs in 1985/85 all you could get were mainly tape recordings of live gigs with very simply printed paper sleeves. This progressed to vinyl with much better sleeves on to video's of live shows and stuff recorded from television (remember in say 1989 there was no internet,no youtube, the only chance you would get to see the Sisters Whistle Test performance was on a grainy vhs tape)
Eventually we end up with pressed cd and dvd,and doubtless soon blu ray.
But they are essentially the same as my 25 year old tape of Eldritch and the gang from Nottingham Rock City, simply a better version of it.

:D ... yes, please ... I shall check that list with mine and see what I can
make of it ....

anyway it's work in progress ... and therefore it will probably take some time
to organise this properly within the Wiki ...

Thanks, ribbons69, for your explanation ... that gets things very much down to earth ... ;D ... :notworthy: ...
