Well, my my and boo hoo...

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Wierd selection anyway, eh???

I saw that too but I didn't gleen all that detail in the 30 second ad. Just a bit of the cult and a bit of the sisters.

I picked up a nice compilation album at a boot sale yesterday morning called Absolution : Rock The Alternative Way.

Has The Cure, The m*****n, Killing Joke, The Wonder Stuff, Echo & The Bunnymen, Siouxie, Gene Loves Jezebel, Bauhaus, The Jesus And Mary Chain, All About Eve, The Stranglers, Depeche Mode, The Psychedelic Furs, The Creatures, The Damned, The Ramones, Fields Of The Nephilim and NMA. Some of the same songs as the album above.

Not bad for a quid! :)

Think I'll still buy a copy of that one though!

the ad is very funny - some goth chap poncing about in his bedroom, the walls full of sisters and cure posters... snippets of songs playing - and he changes his outfit to look like the type of goth that would like the song playing at that time - ie: hussey/fat bob/etc etc :D :D :D

very funny - and the sisters logos are plastered all over the walls! :von:

am sure von would hate it though ;)

why do they alsways choose "never take me alive"? "rainmaker" and "liberator" are far better tunes and much better dance-floor stomp-a-thons ;)

goth revival? you betcha ;)

selling point.

Wonder who got the money for the deal though ?

I picked one up that was almost identical to the above list, by the name of "Nocturnal".

It's good for washing the pots to.

'The Dark Side of the 80s'.
Eh?
half the songs aren't even remotely 'dark', and many aren't even from the 80s!

There's a lawsuit there somewhere

And am I the only one who thinks that the jingly jangly indie pop of The Las, Billy Bragg and House of Love are completely out of place?

Ok. We have in poland some kind of list, top 40. It going week by week from a 23 years. It is the older radio broadcast of that kind and it goes on channel 3 of polish radio. And maybe 3-4 years ago they realized a cd's from every year of existance with the great number ones. And if I remember well, Sisters was with This Corrosion in 1989 or something in companion with many different bands. It can be bought in shop in poland and it isn't a bootleg at all. Uffff 8) Thanks a lot everybody. Good Night.

Yeah, I think Billy Bragg will be surprised to find out he has a 'dark side' too...especially given the song, which is just a shiny happy call for sexual toleration - and there's even a very eighties safe sex message in there - don't tell me, condoms are gothic...

I noticed that the aforementioned "dark" CD is now at number 22 in the ASDA uk chart...(well you have to shop somewhere!).

....course I didn't buy it....weird mix of stuff as discussed before, and how many copies of Dominion and This Corrosion do you need 8)

I heard that "Disney" hold the movie rights and that the director "Jay Roach" (of Austin Powers fame) was on board - and the much missed Dougie Adams had finished the script, with Roach contributing, just before his untimely death - 2 years ago!

BTW - Douglas Adams passed away whilst training at the "Gym" - that being the case at least "He Knew Where His Towel Was"
