Oh, had these people only renounced to produce that disgusting s**t ... :urff: ...

* funny as is, a large majority of listeners does even seem to like this sick stuff...

What songs in the world have maltreated your ears beyond endurability? Five come to my mind, immediately (in no special order):

Icehouse - Hey Little Girl
Lisa Stanfield - All Around The World
Cher - Believe
Reamon - Supergirl
Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come On, Eileen

We are not talking about simply "bad" songs but songs that make you physically cringe and want to cut off your ear, right?

For me, the most recent would be Adele's version of "Make You Feel My Love". Sounds to me like she's confusing croaking like a drunk street hoooker with "emotional". And it's not the fact that it is ugly that is revolting me (am a great fan of Diamanda Galas and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan), but simply that it is so fake and forced.
Oh well, to my ears at least.

@ Being - haha, yes, everything by Lisa Stansfield  :notworthy:

One time, in a pub in Rochdale, many years ago, I was having a pint with a few mates. I asked (not entirely discreetly) "who's that daft bint in the corner who reckons she's Lisa Stansfield?"

"That would be... Lisa Stansfield, Mark."

Cue hasty departure.

... ... heaven knows what's become of her. Besides that idiot song, she had a great voice. I'd always prefer Sade, though.
With male voices, a little hystery is quite to my liking, with female voices, I can't stand it. That's why I don't like listening to
Shakira either, however really adorable her belly dancing might be.

Anyway, all the songs I've mentioned represent some destructive (but obviously common-sense) idiot view to me,
and in a loudness that just goes way too far. A kind of blackmail and torture by cultural means.

... :urff: :urff: :urff: ... ...

The most disgusting song of MY ENTIRE LIFE though happens to be "I should be so lucky" by a young Kylie Minogue. As much as I love her now, and her later works. But that song... :urff:

Into The Valley by local heroes The Skids is still played every week as the "run-out" choon for Dunfermline Athletic at every home game, to get the (ahem) crowd going before kick-off. Let's just check and see how many home games they've won this season - that'll be none then. Cause and effect ??[/i]
