David Bowie RIP

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

another tragedy. a terrible loss.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

Can't believe it, but it's true obviously ... :( :( :( ... and also two days after his birthday and due to cancer ...

That's absolutely saddening. What a horrible start of a year ...

In fact, I feel too sick now to say something ... :urff: :( :urff: :( :urff: ...

And I thought Lemmy going was a shock to the system. This is worse.

Terrible loss. He loved his gitane cigarettes , as Bowie was a chain smoker, I always used to think I wish he didn't smoke them, or smoke at all for that matter.

First gig I ever attended was the Ziggy & the Spiders from Mars
at Leeds Rollerina in 1973 , as a young lad. Then went to Thin White Duke gigs in London , and all the other tours after going all over the UK to see him, I stopped after the Tin Machine era.
Some great memories there.

Thank you Bowie for getting me into music
RIP a true legend.
I go to gigs, and if there is any money left, I eat

He's not died, he's just gone back to his home planet.

RIP David

You know what, if he had to go, and we all have to go, what a way to do it. Birthday, a really well received album, that's it I'm gone. The only thing missing was the puff of smoke and the sound effect.

I'm off to listen to Let's Dance again.

One of my fav Dave memories from a Brixton gig in 91 - pack of Marlborough lights hit him in the eye mid song. He didn't stop playing, just walked to the back of the stage, got checked, they bandaged the eye and he came back to the front of the stage and finished the song. "These things can kill you".

Came across this on Facebook:
If you're ever sad, just remember that the world is 4.453 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie.

I texted my dad and he replied "he's just gone home to another star". Awwwwwwwwww.

Bad start into the year. Though musically totally different from each other - we lost 2 great musicians and 2 great personalities :(

A lovely man - ran into him once in the supermarket, both of us reaching for the last packet of Water Biscuits. Very English impasse, he smiled, "You have them."

G'night, David - thanks for everything.

Another big loss in a weeks difference :(

And a good tribute in what did David Bowie do at your age?

My DH (also named David) just woke me to the news; I thought he was joking. As he's also a huge Bowie fan, though, I knew that he'd have no reason to fabricate something that horrible. I just sat there, stunned. Not wanting to believe it, I stupidly retorted, "No, he didn't. He just put out a new album!" And then, as DH was dressing for work, "Under Pressure" came up on his Pandora playlist. I was making coffee, so I could distract myself; otherwise I'd have lost it.

I can't believe this. One of my lifelong musical idols...never got a chance to see him play live. I'm really at a loss.

He's surely passed one hundred thousand miles, by now. RIP, sir.

This one's affecting me a mite more than Lemmy's passing.

With Lemmy, even though we always thought he was indestructible, we could see he was going downhill. With Bowie it wasn't even on my radar.

The Starman came to meet us, blew our minds, and is now gone back to the sky. :notworthy:
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

What EmmapeelWannabe said. :notworthy:

Me, I've never been much of a fan of his music. Liked some songs a lot, didn't care to buy all the stuff, though. And still there'll be something missing.

Lucky enough to see him a couple of times. South bank was great when he played Low in its entirety. i was alright until tony Visconti came on the radio and played the original backing vocals to heroes.

Such a shock :(

I can't claim to be a massive fan but I did love some of his early stuff and huge respect for such ground breaking material. RIP David Bowie :notworthy:
