That Guitarist's Marian on youtube

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I was hoping it would be better than this.
It's really quite bad. The piano sounds like an old cassette tape that's been stretched. :?
Cheers.

4:25 I'll never get back.

But it was much better when I turned the sound off and closed my eyes

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Nice version, although the piano sounds like recorded inside a toilet.

Another dialed in effort. Actually had high hopes that it would have actually been an inspired reworking.

In the last decade, that seems to mean Wayne alone with a midi piano.

Judging by comments on YT, it all comes down to who of this two guys you're listening more frequently. :?

A lot of Wayne's solo stuff (including his solo tours and his entire first album) is largely just piano and voice. A bit bland for me though.
Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

Typically I find Wayne to be overwrought rather than bland. He's not going to sing "I hear you calling Marian" when "I heeeeuurrgghhh yuuurrhhh currrrhlluuuunnnrrgggghhh Mariaaaaannnn" would do the job just as well.

The constant comparison between the two performers is getting tiresome though. I did make an honest in-good-faith attempt to listen to this and judge it on it's own merits, and it just didn't do it for me.

Also bizarre is the adulation some people display towards anything and everything Wayne does. The guy could stand on a stage blowing his nose and stamping his feet in tune and some Wayne fans would declare it the greatest thing ever. Like I said, judged on it's own merits this is a weak cover for me.

Ι think it s more than fine, it s decent and honest and i realy like the piano-guitar-voice only take, nice atmosphere, thumbs up for me.
But i can understand it won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Same way you tune a fish, I think.

Bad puns aside, this totally didn't do anything for me.
