Help needed on two fronts!
I had a fair number of James Ray's Gangwar recordings saved to an external hard drive, but not on a real live, actual computer. As well as the music that JR has put up on his website for free, there was the live CD that came with Peru4080 DVD, and I'm pretty sure a live recording from Camden Palace. Maybe more.
And I went and deleted the folder, whilst the HD was plugged into my Google Chromebook. I've just bought a Mac, and tried running a bit of free software to recover accidentally deleted files, but all indications are that they are gone for good. I am far, far from being techy, but think this is something to do with the Chromebook effectively turning the external HD into a USB temporary storage device. Maybe.
Still with me?
Does anyone know if there's a way of retrieving the files that they can explain to a tech idiot?
Or more in keeping with Sisters-esque content on Heartland, will you excuse me reviving a batch of long dead posts to see if I can get the recordings back without actually having to learn how to do something for myself

I'm sure they are retrievable. I'm sure I don't know how to do it,however I would suggest you edit the thread title to include the words (Tech advice needed)
Good luck.
Good luck.

You can use a program such as RecoverX, as long as the drive hasn't been formatted it should recover all your lost files.
I got it free with a sd card but you can download it from here :-

Someone may have an easier option so wait for more replies.

The HD was formatted, but will give this a go regardless.
Do you know if that was the Live '93 Leeds recording (that came with the Peru DVD)? I did not have that release, but have the MP3s from this live show (and will share).
My existence would be more satisfied with a greater collection of James Ray recordings.

Thanks, that is the one, and it's kind of you to offer to share but I actually got hold of it from the Dark Circle Room Blog. And in what should be my signature now, sorry to reply so late to your offer.drsyn67 wrote:Do you know if that was the Live '93 Leeds recording (that came with the Peru DVD)?
