GW8 Deadline Saturday 5th October 11.30AM

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Evening. GW7 now consigned to the history folder, except forSteve's roundup which will be forever internetted.
Here we are, on GW8 at the beginning of the proper autumn weather, settling in done and starts all made. For good or ill, the stage is set.
First scene - the early game at Saturday lunchtime. This could be an early tragedy/bloodbath as Brighton seek to murder whatthefuckwasthatSpurs. I've temporarily disowned them until they sort their s**t out. I lent Liverpool some support last night, which clearly wasn't a help there either. Sheesh. New manager? Is Wenger gossip a blind for a North London comeback? Stranger things have happened.

The main acts include a struggle for Everton - still verging on the tragi-farce end of Thespia's fair art. They're not steady yet. The other Scousers face Leicester, who could easily give them a scare on current form. The Canaries host the pantomime villains of Villa - let's hope they stuff them sideways and claim back some Anglian pride. Still far too many injuries. Watford may well be hoping for a nice calm game with nothing going too wrong against Sheff Utd, but they've been obdurate, so expect a solid performance from one or the other. The holding Act on Saturday is the 5.30 KO, Palace wanting to add to the drama against the Hammers, who don't know what part they're playing.

Popping off to Sunday's matinée, we have comedy, mystery, adventure, bromance, soaps and no nonsense factual reporting to look forward to. Who sis waiting in the wings at Arsenal? Are Bournemouth's swashbucklers ready? Man City's noble heroes may be challenged by rival gang from their east. Southampton's slapstick specialists could be testing out new straight man roles against Chelsea, who look to escape the chorus to main roles. And, for the finale, two safe but dull sitcoms of teams wrap it all up in the 4.30 at St James's Park.

All actors, Stage Managers, prompters, understudies, runners and costume designers will shortly be assembling in the Green Room for final rehearsal and possible script tear-ups.

The curtain is due to rise. In your seats, ladies and gentlemen.

Almost, I believe it's what they smurked. According to Viz anyway. ;D

Don't be too down on your lot Boss, it was a cracking game, they just switched off completely for the last half hour. And even then the finishing was rather special. I've just sat through Alkmaar v my lot, think I'd prefer to have been hammered 2-7 in the CL. Anyway best go read Steve's roundup to see who won the week.

edit : Yesss nice one IGM :notworthy:

Could be a lean GW coming up, looking at the fixtures there's at least four games with 0-0 written all over them. Maybe that's being overly hopeful regarding my lot, but yeah, tread careful in the transfer market this w/e. Good luck folks.

Aye, and I've just read one of my points-certs is injured  ah well, at least there's no temptation to try a maverick transfer, gotta keep it simple this week. So, De Bruyne out, Fred in! :notworthy:

Poor old Lloris.
Fluffs up a save & ends up being given morphine & being rushed to hospital.
His arm isn't supposed to bend that way. :urff:

On account of Jo not feeling too chipper, she's asked if I can post the results, so here goes.
It’s been 2 weeks since the last GW so I hope I remember it right.
Not content with “having a bit of a blip, Spurs managed to go full-spursy at the Amex as the south coast scum tore them apart to the tune of 3-0.
Everton’s woes continue as they went down to 10 men & lost their 4th in a row at Burnley, while their neighbours made it 17 premier league wins on the trot courtesy of a 95th minute penalty from boring James Milner. Fun fact: The last time Liverpool lost at Anfield when Salah was on the pitch was against Chelski in 2014 when Salah played for the blues.
Norwich hosted fellow PL noobs, Villa. & they were eviscerated 1-5 in a game where even Grealish was able to score a goal.
Watford & Sheffield UTD cancelled each other out in a forgettable 0-0 draw giving the Hornets a rae point and rounding up Saturday’s action Palace headed on over to the tax payer’s stadium.
As tradition insists, a dammit was issued after 54 minutes, but Patrick van Aanholt, who had kept Yarmelenko quite drew the mighty Eagles level with a spot kick. Then, in the 87th minute, VAR overturned a blind linesman’s offside call to award Ayew a goal & keep the Palace in European contention.
On Sunday, not only did Side Show Bob not concede a penalty, but he scored Arsenal’s only goal of the game to secure 3rd place.
Chelski totally unravelled Southampton 1-4 to go into 5th spot as the saints drop closer to the drop zone.
At the Etihad, struggling Wolves dropped by. The champions looked decidedly off colour even after bringing on a second striker. But a defensive error let Traoré through to slot past Ederson silencing the home fans instantly. A second, almost carbon copy, deep into stoppage time gave the visitors a shock win that leaves Citeh 8 points off the leaders.
Newcastle had both Longstaff brothers in the starting line-up against ManUre &, on his debut, Matty (the ginger ninja) drilled a bullet shot past De Gea as the Toon took all 3 points.
That about cover it?

In the FPL, it was the IGM who reigned supreme in the classic league with 482 points which puts them back in the overall lead :notworthy:

I did one week of 12 hour shifts. Once. When I was 20. Bollocks to that.
