THE SISTERS OF MERCY - MERCIFUL RE(RELEASE)

IN a year when Andrew Eldritch fired the entire staff of Merciful Release, parted company with Tim Bricheno,Tony James and Andreas Bruhn and got into legal arguments with Patricia Morrison, could one still refer to THE SISTERS OF MERCY in the plural?
No such problems with FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM.
"I Am The Nephilim",proclaimed Carl McCoy,unforgettably, upon his split with The Uvver Bastards(sadly not trading under the name "The Nod Experience",but re-launched as Rubicon).
Eldritch's old sidekick/adversary That Guitarist had a bad year of it:members(and fans) of THE m*****n quitting as quickly as you could say "Eskimo?Me?Naaah, always been into the Levellers";and a blatantly U2/Cure influenced album that not even a Utah Saints remix could salvage.
The Count himself, contrary as ever, played his only UK date on the same weekend as Glastonbury, and still drew a crowd."Temple Of Love" finally made the unprecedented heights of the Top Three(albeit 10 years late and re-recorded with guest wails from Ofra Haza),and "Some Girls Wander By Mistake" brought the delights of Goth to a new generation.
Eldritch is currently holed up in Hamburg, planning The Sisters' next Dr Who-like incarnation. He'll be back,as they say in all the best films.

Aye, it's been a long time since he threw us a morsel.
