Yeah Quiffy, I think you'll find that we actually enjoy this thread and the post count thing isnt really an issue. Besides it ought to appeal to you seeing as you've always argued (usually with me!) in favour of "random bollocks" ..........

indeed i most defenitelt do advocate random bollocks... its what makes this a real community and not just a list of semi-interesting posts about a quasi-defunct rock band

but these threads can get a bit big and it seens to slow the database down - not to mention clogging it up it up - and i dont think threads that are truly random bollocks are really worth keeping indefintely.

(hence the archiving of the bar and grill, and the "current listening" threads when they get to 1000 posts)

the main factor as far as i'm conerned is that there is a maximum size limit imposed on the database - my ISP set a limit if 100mb.

if you look at the stats page it's currently says:

Database size: 22.73 MB

when i re-index the search tables so that the search facility works properly again that will probably shoot up to about 60 mb

i just wanted to give plenty of advance warning to ensure people understand and aren't too surprised when the thread gets too long and is removed, zapping a few hundred of all your posts in the process

anyhoo, enough of that! let the merryments begin... before the fire dept shut you down again
